I love Zorn, did since his first press conference (go maroon and black!). But does anyone think he could have stepped into the mess left behind by Spurrier (as Gibbs did) and had the success he is currently having? I don't.

As hess so eloquently said in another thread - Gibbs gave the team heart, Zorn is making it beat.

At first I didit think Zorn was good choice for our head coach. But I like how he has bounced back from that week 1 loss and completely turned things around for the team. Things are looking great.

The Redskins job is a dream for any coach. A top 10 defense and an elite running back. Zorn is doing his job and getting the most out of every player. I'm so happy that Campbell is showing all his potential and I look forward to the offense gelling in the red zone.

I would like to see the Redskins blow somebody away, like 45-7. If they lose a couple of the next 3 or 4 games, I guess I'll come back down to earth; But right now it feels so good to have a coach who trusts his players. I'm still floating from the Cowboys and Iggles wins, and my season will be complete if we tear the Giants up at FedEx Field. Zorn is still giving credit to the players for making plays, and that's part of the reason they're winning!

The Redskins should have blown away the Rams for an easy win. I hate days after a loss. When we win, everyone seems to want to give Joe Gibbs a lot of the credit. I haven't heard his name mentioned when the 'Skins lose.

Joe Gibbs was great, but he chose Greg Williams. Blatche was promoted and is doing much better (so far) as the defensive coordinator. I wonder if Gibbs had anything to do in (maybe) advising Snyder not to give the head coaching job to Williams. Also, if Williams had been named head coach, would we still have Al Saunders as the offensive coordinator? Maybe Gibbs had a lot to do with Zorn being brought to the Redskins. I think maybe Jim Fassel thinks it was his idea. (Please excuse this rambling comment.)

speaking of building a team and bringing in a solid core of players . . . i heard a st louis rams reporter (on the radio bad reception) say the rams only have 1 draft pick on the team from the 2000 - 2004 drafts which should make up the core of their team. if i heard that right, that is down right unbelievable.

I enjoyed all the years of Gibbs I, but none of Gibbs II. I didn't like Mark Brunell as the quarterback, and Gibbs stayed with him way too long. I thought LaVar Arrington was treated like an outcast, and he happened to be my favorite Redskin at the time. There was a lot of dissension on the team, and some of it was because of Gregg Williams and the linebackers coach. Plus while other teams built themselves into stronger units through the draft, the Skins were content to trade draft choices for players who failed here, like Brandon Lloyd. Gregg Williams was responsible for the Skins getting London Fletcher, not JG. So I resent it when people try to give most of the credit to Joe Gibbs for today's five wins because of the "foundation" that Joe built.

My favorite memory is of Number 44 running for the touchdown that beat the Dolphins in the 1982 Super Bowl. And Joe Gibbs had the guts to call it. So I have my memories of Joe's successes, but they're all from his first years as head coach. Now it's Zorn's time and the players are Zorn's. Lady Brave is correct in the statement that Zorn's successes will not diminish what Gibbs did. So we move on with Jim Zorn, and I'm just worn out after yesterday's 14-11 win over the Browns. I need a blowout win!

We made some boneheaded personnel moves, to be sure, under Gibbs the past four years. But you have to be an idiot (or think that the only measure of success the past four years is how many Super Bowls we won, or didn't win) not to recognize the foundation that Gibbs built for Zorn to succeed. And look, that's not to take anything away from Zorn. Not everyone can take talent developed by another coach and lead them and take them to another level. And I have no doubt that Zorn will one day win with his players. But right now, with maybe the exception of Horton I suppose, he's winning with the guys brought in under Gibbs.

Just looking at the list in Black and White of quality players that we have is enough to yell HAIL SKINS!!! That is as solid a lineup on both sides of the ball as a fan could ask for! Go Skins!

True, the players were there. But for him to have begun to win so quickly implementing a totally new system, is what makes it so special. No question that if we go into the playoffs (god bless) having a 1st year at helm coach, with NO previous HC experience, would not be anything short of incredible!

Well, I think our passing game will tke off sooner than later. It's already shown signs thanks in large part to the maturation of Campbell (and Zorn's tutelage). But the bread and butter of this team so far has been defense and the running game. Defense is Blache running a much more simplified version of what Williams ran, and the running game philosophy is largely (if not entirely) a product of Gibbs and Bugel.

My point is, we were all a little concerned when he was hired a HC. But maybe his youth is what makes him understand today's game better. (Hell of a call on 4th & 1 today) And allows him to have a closer connection to the entire team.
