Michael Vick is a total POS, as evidenced by his actions and his current residency in the US Federal Prison System. To answer the question in the thread title: Hell no. I wouldn't accept Michael Vick as a Redskin. Ever. Regardless of the circumstances. He should go to the Cowboys where he belongs.

Granted he is a criminal and he hasn't chose the most moral life to lead but hate you are spewing for him doesn't align with his crimes. When his time is up his criminal punishments will have been fulfilled. I don't like the idea of killing dogs for sport either but condemning a man and his character permanently as if he incorrigible is a bit much. What he did was dumb. You break the law and you suffer the consequence...I get that. But why are you so fervent about making him sound like a Nazi dictator. He killed dogs for sport, which is against the law and I'm also against, but what makes that morally different from killing and eating an animal three times the size of a dog. I do that on a regular basis and even throw some away some if I can't eat the rest of it. If we all lived in a vegetarian society that treated animal killings like human killings then your post lines up. But just because humans own domesticated animals and are emotionally close to them doesn't mean killing them is on par with rape or pedophilia. You sound like an animal lover, which is great, but people who have biased perspectives should not weigh the scales of justice or morality in this point. On a side note I am not in favor of Vick coming to the Skins. I don't think he'll play in the NFL due to the fact playing QB so long hurt him developing NFL-caliber talents at any other positions. WR is the only position I can see him playing but it will be too little too late for him. BTW...what the hell is wrong with Deion???...Deion may be flashy but as far as I know he has never committed a criminal act on paper.

Re: Would you accept Michael Vick on the Redskins?
Vick is a cold-hearted piece of human garbage. Even if we were guaranteed a Super Bowl....NO WAY!!!!
If I'm Goddell no way Vick gets back in the NFL. For those saying "he has a right to make a living", you are correct. Once his debt to society is paid, he has a right to be gainfully employeed if a company wants to hire a convicted felon. My company sure wouldn't, if I did a small fraction of what Vick did it would be a very cold day in hell before my company would hire me back. If the CFL, Arena or the new start-up league want him fine, but he would never wear the NFL logo again if I was commish. For you folks trying to equate eating meat with torturing / killing dogs and forcing them to bite/claw/chew each other to death over the course of 15 min to an hour and to not only watch but RUN THE WHOLE OPERATION...give me an f-ing break. I love a good steak, and I tend to believe most meat in the U.S. is produced fairly humanely with minimal fear/pain/suffering to the animals. From a purely football perspective, he was a poor QB definitely not a WCO guy. The "Wildcat" is a fad that D-Coordinators will have completely stopped by early in the '09 season, he has lost speed which was really his only asset, no way Snyder would take on that kind of negative publicity for the Skins anyway.

...ok that's ridiculous but so is trying to rationalize the wholesale killing of animals for your personal gain. I'm a meataterian, I've come to grips with it and I try not to lie to myself when the subject of the treatment of animals comes up. Humanely or not animals by the millions are put to death and consumed by people...that's pretty barbaric. Enough with the animals subject. It's distracting the main point. He doesn't belong on the Redskins due to his high profile crimes and he has probably lost his elite atheltic talent. No to Vick is final answer but we took the scenic route to get to it.

Re: Would you accept Michael Vick on the Redskins?
It seems like there is an ass-load of bickering and negativity going on around here in multiple threads lately. Couple that with the shitty cold rain we're having in the DC area, and it's really making my Tuesday a downer.

re: Would you accept Michael Vick on the Redskins?
Are you serious? I could name 10 good ones as to why Vick should never walk a football field in his life. The 3rd point is key
1. We don't need to invest more $ on QB's. The guy is a huge risk 2. We found out from the Falcons that having Mike Vick and Deangelo Hall on the the same team means trouble 3. Vick will be 30 when he gets out (I think) he won't get any younger after being in bars. He might have lost his speed which was his money maker. nono: |

I don't see any need on this team for Vick. Maybe he can sign-on with the Cowgirls and carpool to the probation office.

Re: Would you accept Michael Vick on the Redskins?
Michael Vick: I grab a dog, I choke him and I . . . . BAM BAM BAM all day long foot in a dog's a**. That's my pleasure!
Commonwealth Attorney: Come the first of the month you don't have an NFL job, you ain't going to school, you don't need to worry about fighting no dogs . . . . you got to worry about those jail dogs fighting your a**! Me: AHHHHH HAAA HAAA HAAAA It wasn't his chest it was his knee. It was Vick who gave the finger. Sorry, these two bright ones did so much stupid s**t it's hard to keep up with it all. For those of you that I've pissed off, GOOD! AHHH HAA HAAA I hope I hurt your feelings and made you cry. If you want to make it racial, you can kiss every inch of my A**! Hommie don't play that! I'm tired of the NFL and fans not saying enough about guys who snort dope (Cowboys), beat their wives, and shoot up night clubs just because they can make a touchdown. (If you smeared the football with teritaki sauce my dog would catch the ball every time.) This isn't just about Vick. It's about dignity, whether it's an animal, another human being, or a woman. Just because I've a twisted sense of humor (Trample the Elderly) doesn't mean I condone twisted behavior. Yeah maybe I'm being a little self-righteous, but God D**m, electrocuting a half dead animal? At least shoot the poor thing and put it out of it's misery. I couldn't resist having fun with that big ole chip on your shoulder NIGHT LIGHT. I'd post more but I have to get up in the morning for work. That's something Michael doesn't have to do. I take that back, keeping your cherry in the joint is hard work isn't it? AHHHHH HAAAAA HAAAAA Piss on Vick AAAHHHH HA HA HA! |

What you didn't capture is any semblance of rational. I like dogs as much as the next guy, maybe not as much as you and your dog with teriyaki sauce, but the next time an unsupervised canine mauls a child to death be sure to stick up for the dog. A dog in that situation would be put down even though they are just instinctually an animal. I don't agree with putting them down but our legal code says so. I know that lots of us have strong bonds between our domesticated animals. People consider animals to be human and are very close to their pet. Some are even closer, like you with your dog and the teriyaki sauce, but there is a delineation there. Vick didn't cross it, you might be with teriyaki sauce...but what you do behind closed doors is your business. Vick didn't kill a multitude of human beings or the State and Federal penal systems would never allow him to integrate with soceity. He's getting out soon which means they don't consider animals in the same class as humans. Being that we consume various types of animal meat that's probably not a stretch. Look, I think what he did is reprehensible. I don't like having to stick up for Vick but I think you are in the wrong here. He is young and a human of free will, who in time has the same chance for redemption on his mistakes as you would have if you did something foolish at that age.
