re: Do you want Portis back next season?
Sorry about that. I just realized the Poll title is not the same as the thread title. Since a lot of people have already voted I will change the thread title to hopefully avoid further confusion

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
I am waiting to see what Shanny decides. I have confidence in what I heard from him. He is evaluating the situation, analyzing, and unlike Zorn actually knows what he is looking for. If he is not ready to produce he won't be here. I take performances under Zorn and then skew them sorta like the Doppler effect in Astronomy and Physics. Except I call it the extra medium effect. Zorn and Jaws are garbage. Steve Young laughed on those two monday night games, he thoug,ht the whoe situation was funny. you could see the embarassment on the players faces they knew that garbage so called offense was not gonna work. They knew the play caller did not know what he was doing. Portis called it early "genius" BWAHAHAHAH!.

Whether we want CP back or not, he will be a Redskin one more year. He collects 7 Mil next year from the Skins whether he plays for us or not and nobody will want to trade for him. You can still hang on to your # 26 jerseys one more year!!!!!!!!!

He and Jason have already patched things up. And at the end of the day a healthy in shape Portis is our best RB and is still a good RB in the league. And imo you don't let talent walk. (especially when we're paying the dude) I think we should draft a RB in the later rounds 4th and down. But we should bring Portis back and if doesn't produce and isn't a team player we just cut him. |

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
My vote is no. Although I agree almost 100% with everything he said about Jason Campbell's abilities and the weak "captains" we've had on our team, saying those things publicly was a huge mistake, and I think Jason Campbell still has the potential to be a leader and at leats already has the respect of most of his teammates . . . something Portis never even considered before he shot his mouth off.
I wish I could see a scenario where we land C.J. Spiller, but I don't see it happening. Everything is pointing towards Spiller going late in the first. I now dust off my completely pulled-out-of-my-ass three-way trade scenario from last night: I say we give Portis to the Browns in order for them to take Matt Cassel's contract, clearing space for KC to swap 1st round picks with us, letting them get Clausen and giving us their left tackle (who is actually a guard). Thus, we get a pro LG and draft Okung at LT with the 5th pick. We just solidified our blindside and dumped Portis, and each team is happy. |

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
That is one confusing ass poll, you have the thread titled, "Do you want him back?" and then you ask the question, "Do you want him gone?"
I voted "No" because I don't want him on the team. I think he should be gone. I was fine with his antics until he started throwing people under the bus, namely the starting quarterback. That can't slide, especially not with the poor production we've seen from him recently. Cut his ass during the cap free season and go after a young guy with more gas in the tank. |

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
In a vacuum, yes, I want Portis back next season.
In reality, there's outside factors that may make it impractical to bring him back. We have to be mindful of the whole situation. The days of doing what Portis thinks should be done are over.

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
I just think salary cap wise, it would be stupid to let Portis go despite his comments, just make it clear to him that anything less than 100% participation in all voluntary and non-voluntary activities will be unacceptable.
Draft a RB to come in as a change of pace back who takes over the starting role the following season unless Portis shows massive improvement

Second, running backs are a dime a dozen and the person who drove home that philosophy is now the head coach. Portis isn't helping himself with all of these offseason distractions, and too be honest, he isn't the same player anymore. Let him go. |

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
I voted no, especially on the firm assumption of an uncapped year. I think he may bring something to the team IF he lives up to Shanahan's criteria, but the upside is not equal to clearing out his contract when a cap comes back and what a young RB who gets schooled by Shanahan's crew could bring to the team.
