That's what I was gonna say. They either scored way before they got to the redzone or settled for a FG. Either way, they scored when we needed a stop.

i guess man. but our 4th and short D looked pretty solid this year. and i dont think teams put up that many points against us. i think our lack of scoring made it seem that way and the D's inability to close games out late.

from the top of my head i can remember 4 games where we held teams to or below 10 pts, one of them includes the boys.

That has been my biggest bone to pick with Blache's and Gregg Williams defense; we gave up momentum killing plays at the most inopportune times. If Haslett can correct that one area, I don't care if we sacrafice a few slots in total yards, but end up with a defense that plays consistently well from start to finish.
One reason for giving up big plays at inopportune time is that any time a team scored on us it was either to extend their lead or to take the lead. Our O never scores enough points to give the D any room for error.

True. And I realize they both go hand in hand, but it's disheartening and a bit deceiving to put up stout defensive numbers only to give up a gut wrenching touchdown with little time left on the clock.

Ironically one of the worst of the calls of the year, in my opinion, happened at the end of the Chargers game when we allow them to chew so much time off the clock instead of simply letting them score when they had the ball at the goal line.

I won't be missing Greg Blache, that's for sure.

That's a little more cliche than true don't ya think?
4 games with 17 pts (0-4)(the minimum to consider a winning score)
3 games with 20-29(1-2)
2 games with 30+ (1-1)

so we were 2 -7 in those 9 games. (we won once with 16 and once with 9)

I am not claiming we were an offensive powerhouse, but the claim that our O "never scores enough points" is not true either

People not liking this choice, and I really am on the fence about Haslett, but not about going outside of the organization(ie not Gray), need to consider the options available, I saw Romeo, but he was going to KC, no doubt at all, Zimmer - Cincinatti had a week grace before we could even talk to him, and apparently they said the right things, so that leaves us with Gray, Haslett, Jauron -but I don't think he is coaching this year, and a few other non-established guys. I can live with Haslett only because there is no dynamo out there.

Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator

What exactly has Haslett done as a Defensive Coordinator to warrant his hiring? Augh, what a horrible hire.

Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator

I think it's too early to give up on a guy as talented as AH, but that's going to be up to Shanahan and his staff to decide. I would bet he's not going anywhere.

Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator

Since some have hi-jacked this thread into the Haynesworthy thread....I would like to say I am a bit unimpressed with Haslett, but I will support him and give him every chance to prove himself. The defense has a ton of good talent that was not nurtured and used correctly. I was not a big fan of Blache and his bend but dont break style. I particularly did not like how he handled his safety's and LB's, in particular how terrible they were at disguising the blitz.

Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator

JLC just said on NFL Network that Haynesworth & Shanny might bump heads when it comes to the 3-4 defense.
