Where did you hear that the Redskins decided that the draft picks evolved where too high? I found this that seems to go along with what I remember with Orton valued over Campbell in the eyes of the Broncos, I forgot about the 3 way deal talk. But maybe something came out later with more details?

Cutler traded to Chicago | Washington Examiner

However, the deal involving the Browns unraveled, prompting Chicago to jump back in and offer a less-complicated deal, knowing the Broncos liked Bears quarterback Kyle Orton. The source said Denver’s preference of quarterbacks was Quinn and then Orton. They were not high on Campbell.

So, rather than do a three-way deal with Washington and another team, the Bears, according to an NFL source, called to offer Orton, two first-round draft picks, and a third-round pick in exchange for Cutler and a fifth-round pick.

“They had the compensation,” another NFL source said of the Redskins. “In the end they chose Orton over Campbell.”
It was my understanding that the Bears had a better offer because Washington didn't want to give up a first rounder...

Chicago Bears acquire Jay Cutler from Denver Broncos for Kyle Orton, picks - ESPN

Even if Denver chose Campbell over Orton, it didn't have much to do about whether one QB was better than the other, and more of which QB McD felt fit his "system" better. Given what transpired in the 2009 season, it is hard to straight up determine which of these QBs is the better one, however, at that moment I think the best QB for Denver was Cutler...it's just that McD wanted his own players and dismantled the Denver offense.

Re: RUMOR: Trade talks between Browns (Brady Quinn) and Broncos (Brandon Marshall)

Brandon Marshall really doesn't have the type of value around the league that his multiple pro bowls would suggest. If Denver traded him for picks, they would probably get a Braylon Edwards type package in return (a third and a fifth plus Jason Trusnick).

Quinn is probably worth that in a vacuum. Is he really that much better than Orton? Perhaps not, but if you saw the Broncos down the stretch, they were treating Orton (fairly or unfairly) like the Jets were treating Mark Sanchez. Only, you know, Orton is a five year veteran. He'll begin the backup portion of his career shortly.

brady quinn's value is that he hasnt been given a legit shot yet, hence he hasnt proven to be a bust yet.

b marshall is going to be moved at a discount to someone

Just saw Mort and Schefter on ESPN and they said that they would be shocked if marshall was in a broncos uniform next year and that is playing his last game as a bronco. Also Mort said that Bradford has begun working out for the draft, and that he has put on some weight, now weighing 227lb istead of 213lb like before...more weight, more cushion to protect the fragile shoulder...

The Broncos better get a first round pick to go alone with Marshall is all I have to say. I mean what the hell is Quinn worth? Certainly not more than a 4th round pick.

BS we can't. Sam can't take hits obviously, so why do you want him? His backup performed rather nicely during the bowl game. I will keep saying this till I am blue in the face, we need to get a guy that made his team better, ala Levefour or Kafka. Sam is a very good QB OKIE, but face it he was loaded with so much talent on offense an average QB could have made All American. The same goes for Tebow or McCoy. Lefevour had some talent on Central Michigan that helped him a bit, and Kafka was the entire NU offense. You take away Kafka from Northwestern, and the Wildcats don't win a game in '09. Both guys(Lefevour, Kafka) are good on their feet and can run when they need to.

It could be a cut your losses trade a la Randy Moss for a 4th.

SCREW THAT! Yuck, Quinn is horrible I would rather have Orton ... Marshall won't be in Denver though.

Re: RUMOR: Trade talks between Browns (Brady Quinn) and Broncos (Brandon Marshall)

honestly i cant say that Quinn is horrible...due to the lack of any type of reliable receiver...and please dont say "but they had edwards" cause i used the word RELIABLE...i dont think he has touched his potential...but in the same breathe if they do that trade he would have eddie royal as his top target and thats no better than mohamad massaquoi (or however the fuck you spell it) do i think marshall for quinn is a fair deal...hell no for the fact that marshall has proved his usefulness while quinn really hasnt yet...but like it was said before this might be a cut your losses deal. plus "baby t o" is a premaddona and comes with a ton of baggage. if he can grow up like randy moss did he will be fine.

as for bradford is concerned im still concerned about the shoulder and surgeries and such...i know he didnt have anything close to what pennington had but after penn's surgery he was never the same. drafting qbs that high and paying that much is a scarey thought to me...but if he can be our matt ryan than ill be more than pleased with that. i still think okung (if hes there) is the better and safer pick.

Re: RUMOR: Trade talks between Browns (Brady Quinn) and Broncos (Brandon Marshall)

I really don't think there is much difference between Orton and Quinn. Neither can really push the ball downfield consistently and that's why Anderson was the starter. Quinn didn't give Clev any type of downfield presence. On the other hand Marshall is one of the top wr's in the NFL and we need to be in on those trade talks. The second he walks on the field he opens up everything...the running game, gives the 2nd wr single coverage. Denver would be stupid to make that trade straight up.

How do i wrod this... Orton is a lot less bad than Quinn. I seriously doubt this rumor is based on anything solid. If it is, Denver is just as retarded as i thought they were when they let Shanahan go. What's the point of picking up a less good quarterback and losing his best option at WR? On th eother side, if the Browns somehow managed this, they would be better off... provided they got a better qb elsewhere. (Anderson is horrible)

Orton has at least established himself as a decent starter. Quinn has a long way to go to reach Orton's level of mediocrity.

I agree. Quinn certainly has "potential"... but one could also say there's a reason he hasn't had more playing time and its not because Anderson is such a great QB. Who's the coach that said if you have two starting quarterbacks on your roster, then you really have none?
