The worms at Candlestick Park are currently in the process of executing a mass migration.

Childress interviewing for the Dolphins OC job...could be a step closer to my earlier prediction of McNabb in Miami next year

I missed that prediciton. I would've been shocked, but now if Childress goes there it of course makes sense. The Tuna is in some backseat consulting role there right? His presence will make it harder to get value for DM. We need some payback from the JT trade. One 34 year old for a 2nd & 6th deserves the same in return!

Well, to be fair I think it was someone else (Giantone?) who said the Dolphins could be a place he'll land and I said I agreed with him. I never really saw Minnesota or Arizona as options. San Fran and Miami yes

Does Shurmur to CLE make the Browns a McNabb "contender?"

He would have been a good fit here instead of Haslett.

Interesting. He was their LB coach there under Marty I believe.

Rob Ryan reportedly talking with the Cowboys

Tryfuhl-I suppose Shurmur makes McNabb a contender in Cleveland, but I think they'd be better off just letting Shurmur develop Colt. Working with young QBs is his strength

BHA-Not guaranteed that Smith would leave for Denver but he doesn't have a contract right now and it's not uncommon for special teams coaches to make lateral moves.

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves

Miami certainly doesnt have a starting-caliber incumbent QB on the roster and Childress is likely the only coach who would consider giving up anything for McNabb. I would be thrilled if we got a 4th for McNabb, but doubt we could get more than a 5th.

Strangely enough, we were all excited after the McNabb extension because it would give us the right to trade him if things didnt work out. Hoewver, if we had just let McNabb walk away after this season under the terms of his previous contract, we likely would have gotten a 3rd or 4th round compesnatory pick in 2012. By signing him to an extension, publically humiliating, and letting the entire league know he was not part of our future plans, we dramatically REDUCED the compensation we would receive when we let him go.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but there are no compensatory picks for players traded for. You only get comp. picks for players you drafted that later left as free agents. Again, I'm not positive, someone set it straight if you know.

We did get a comp. pick for Brunell. I think we used it to fetch Marko Mitchell.

Quote:
Compensatory picks

In addition to the 32 picks in each round, there are a total of 32 picks awarded at the ends of Rounds 3 through 7. These picks, known as "compensatory picks," are awarded to teams that have lost more qualifying free agents than they gained the previous year in free agency. Teams that gain and lose the same number of players but lose higher-valued players than they gain also can be awarded a pick, but only in the seventh round, after the other compensatory picks. Compensatory picks cannot be traded, and the placement of the picks is determined by a proprietary formula based on the player's salary, playing time, and postseason honors with his new team, with salary being the primary factor. So, for example, a team that lost a linebacker who signed for $2.5 million per year in free agency might get a sixth-round compensatory pick, while a team that lost a wide receiver who signed for $5 million per year might receive a fourth-round pick.

If fewer than 32 such picks are awarded, the remaining picks are awarded in the order in which teams would pick in a hypothetical eighth round of the draft (These are known as "supplemental compensatory selections").

Compensatory picks are awarded each year at the NFL annual meeting which is held at the end of March; typically, about three or four weeks before the draft.
