I wish him well and hope Beck can be a viable option for this team. With the o-line injuries and potential lack of a ground game I am a bit concerned for his health.

Hoping for the best! HTTR!

I really have to agree with this. Missing in all the luck hype is that next year is a pretty deep qb class.

Re: John Beck Era Begins

A better question: does McNabb make the HOF? If you only look at his body of work at Philly you could make a case.

No. He had a Bernie Kosar-type career. One of the better QBs in the game while he was at his peak, but never got over the hump. His teams were close to the Super Bowl most years, but never won at the end.

Kosar is not in the HOF, McNabb won't be either...at least any time soon.

A simple answer: No.

Re: John Beck Era Begins

Actually if Beck is marginally better, I'm thinking it would have a big impact overall.

I wonder how much Becks mobility and the injuries along the Oline figured in this decision?

I think regardless of the o line, even if the o line was the best in the nfl, Beck's mobility & speed are a big advantage over Rex. It's not just Rex's lack of scrambling ability, he doesn't move well in the pocket. You can have the best pass blocking line, your qb will still get some pressure & need to move. e.g. NE, you still see Brady move his feet in the pocket and adjust even when blocking is good. Rex also has a slow release.

Like this move, not expecting Beck to win games for us w/30+ throws a game, just want to see him make enough plays & reduce TOs & we'll be at least avg.

This move gives me a little more faith in the coaches. I sometimes feel like MS and KS are stubborn as hell and you know they wanted it to work out with Rex to show how smart they are with choices. Glad they can do what's best. Because with Beck, we might be getting the same thing as Rex, but maybe not. With Rex, we know exactly what's going to happen. 50 percent decent games, 50 percent horrible.

Re: John Beck Era Begins

So we got our starting QB for Doug Dutch.

I don't know whether to cheer for a brilliant personnel move or to cry because we have a Doug Dutch-quality starting QB.

We won more with Vinny

Is Hightower better than Holliday?

I think we took advantage of several teams. Allen and Shanahan do know how to build teams. It can't be done overnight though.

One (of many) things that worry me about Beck was the scramble where he fumbled the ball. I mean Holy Cow, nobody touched him, he just knocked it loose himself. I guess I believe we will see 1-3 turnovers a game with Beck at QB, just hope his mobility makes up for those ones.

Agreed. In my eyes both of our QB's are potential turnover machines.

He fumbled a lot I believe back in 2007 as well. 7 times in 4 games, or something like that. Can't let that happen

It might have to do with the fact he holds the ball like my 7-year-old niece.

I'll get used to it though, at least he's faster than my niece (unlike Rex).

God bless the Beck era. False hope is better than none. :headbange
