But there are plenty of teams that go from very poor one year to playoff caliber the next. Look no further than this week's opponent. San Fran was a bad team last year. They're 6-1 and a near shoe-in to win their division at this point. And they're doing it with Alex Smith and for the most part a no-name offense. Sure their D is solid, but still. They're 6-1.

Shanahan has had his hands on this team for nearly two years. The defense seems to be heading the right direction, but the offense seems to be getting worse each week.

It was Mike and Kyle's decision to ride with the Rex/Beck train. Fail. It was their decision to ride with this garbage O-line bereft of any depth to speak of. Fail.
I know we're 3 wins "better" than the worst teams in the league after week 8, but I don't think we're really too far away from the St Louis and Miami's of the world.

We haven't had a franchise QB since, who, Joey Sunshine? Until we get one, it will be the same thing over and over, year after year.
I'll bet the teams that appear to be turning the corner haven't neglected their offensive lines for more than a decade. San Fran spent two first round choices on interior linemen a year or so ago. Remember, before Trent Williams, there were ZERO O-linemen selected in the first two rounds of the draft since Chris Samuels. We're seeing the results. Allen and Shanahan just haven't had enough drafts to assemble the line they really want.

I agree totally this team has quit. Gibbs teams did not quit. We need character guys, not yes men. I think the Shannahan's have the two confused. The players they got rid of would not have quit. They would've talked smack after the game but would not have quit.

Sunday evenings are going to become more and more interesting as this season continues to progress. If there are answers we better find them fast....tough to be a Redskins fan right now.

Someone tweeted Comcast....no "O" no "D" no good. KS ran a reverse on the second offensive play.

I think the biggest realization after the game is, its official, we have no QB who is NFL starter material. Regardless of the Oline play and the poor coaching by Kyle, we need talent at that position. They really could draft 2 guys at QB.

That old saying, if you have two starting qb's, you really have none, has never rang more true. I think it's amazing that a team that had one of the greatest offensive lines in NFL history fails to realize how important it is. This is the depth they chose to go with though, so now we're stuck until the offseason.

Kellen Moore, Nick Foles, or Tannehill from A&M. Landry Jones is up there as well. OOps forgot Keenum from Houston. Tons of talent to choose from. I would also get Dan Persa in the 3rd round. Guy is mobile, and accurate with his passing. Maybe too small to expect to be a starter, but would make a great backup. Very possible he doesn't go til the 4th round, so even better. I would get a G sandwiched between the two QBs.

Yeah but who's going to be in charge of picking the QB? Cause right now, I simply don't trust the Shanahan's when it comes to picking a qb.

Skins,

If this crap doesn't get better in say 5 weeks the Shanny's are toast. The crap is getting old and Snyder knows it. He expects to fill the stands, etc with a crappy product in a town with many other distractions offered to the public? If this continues you will have empty seats by December. The fact that we got so hot over a coach who hasn't done anything special since John Elway was still around tells something about how desperate we are for a winner here, and how we can be delusional as well.

The problem is OL depth. That was never fully addressed in the offseason.

Absolutely correct. Some quality players on the O-Line would even help the defense stay off the field by keeping the offense on the field. In hindsight Christian Ponder would have been a great pick if we could have pulled that off but Ryan Kerrigan was a fantastic pick.

After years of wasting picks this is the position we put ourselves in. I think it's going to take at least 2 more drafts just like the one we had and maybe 3 including heavy free agency participation to get where we can compete for the title.
