I see. Well I've had heard some rumors pertaining to Peyton Manning but nothing that legitimately suggest the Redskins being all that interested. Not from what I've heard at least.

I'll just go ahead and tell you guys since it seems to be a false rumor anyway. Well not a false rumor but one that's not such a big deal, plus it's the holidays. One of the guys I was talking about was Jimmy Clausen.

I dropped the clue right in here http://www.thewarpath.net/869792-post110.html

Anyway, it was more of a "Clausen might be available this offseason for cheap, maybe even for nothing. He could be a good choice to bring in"

But from doing a bit more gathering, it seems like that would be more of a due diligence "how can you not at least consider the option, especially if it costs us nothing" move

But I'll keep the other name quiet a little longer. It would be potentially be a franchise altering move.

Can't blame Barkley. Its quiet simple; USC is only for 4 years, the NFL is forever. Also I think Sam Bradford will/has effected many QBs decisions as to whether or not they should come out. He stayed, but was so highly rated and regarded that even after he got injured he was still a top pick. If Barkley plays a game or two next year and tears an ACL I still see him as the number 1 overall pick. I heard Mel Kiper saying he thinks that Logan Thomas will challenge him...don't see that at all.

also this entire year at usc came with no pay off, usc was dealing with aftermath of reggie this year. usc finished 10-2 losing one game to stanford and beating oregon at the end of the year. they have a legit shot at the national title with what looks to be the top qb and top ol in college football next year.

Boooo. Damnit. I'm not liking our odds if RG3 stays too. I guess we'd go the "somebody else's retreads" route.

Re: Matt Barkley Stays (QB Draft Prospect Thread-Episode IV)

Well it's two names. One I've heard directly associated with the Redskins but the source while good is just one source and so, in my mind, that's not enough. Plus it's more of a "this could happen" possibility

The other name I've been asking a lot of different people about today and it's potentially got some serious legs. It'd be pretty huge. The rumor hasn't been as directly associated with the Redskins but indirectly it has.

If I get more info to be able to confirm or totally debunk either rumor then of course I'd tell you. But, as is my policy, I don't like to just throw things out there (I just like to tease).

They're both young (youngish) QBs.

And I'm not talking about guys I've talked about in the past Bradford (would absolutely trade for him) and Colt McCoy (not as sure)

As long as it's not Peyton Manning. What about that Jason Campbell guy out there in Oakland? He probably won't be starting anymore with the trade for Palmer.

we are both thinkin the same thing, i just don't see a scenario where mike shannahan says i made a mistake about campbell let's give him another try. doesn't seem like the way he does bussiness, but honestly i think it could be a great fit and really don't know we ever let him go, it would have been nice to have a competent qb that can manage a game in our stable

Alex Smith and Josh Johnson. Just guessing.

Sorry No. And I've never ever heard either name really associated with the Redskins. Not including when Johnson was on our radar during the draft a couple of years back, under a different regime

Certainly though, it wouldn't surprise me to see Johnson at least brought in for a visit here. Honestly, I thought Smith was certainly going to be strongly considered here last year. I don't know maybe he would have been if there was no lockout, but I think that window has closed.

And no to Campbell either

I remember watching a few games that he started, one may have been against us. He can't throw the ball with any type of accuracy.
