They overpaid and knew they were doing so. That was a one off deal to elevate the perception of the club. Of course then Werth went and just sucked so it worked out about as bad as it could have. If he recovers to be closer to what he was in '10 then the deal will have been worth it. Remember... the Nats were a laughing stock until they pulled the string on that deal. Ohhh and the Lerners are the richest owners in baseball...they can afford it...if they want to. Before the Werth deal Fielder doesn't even consider DC as a destination.

Which is exactly why I blame owners come negotiating time and they claim they are losing money. Yeah, because you are paying bums like this 100 million dollars. DERP
