Yeah, I'm just playing, especially in a post to Smootsmack (glad he didn't change his). I love Cooley and I'm too lazy to change my username anyway, I hear it takes a super-majority among the moderators, and Smooty's been filibustering most requests, not to mention how much Matty loves to use of his veto power. Stinkin checks and balances and separation of powers. I propose an amendment to the Warpath Constitution.

Back on track, I do hope Cooley can get back into a game or two, but I fear his loss of speed will make him only a possession, move the chains, tight end that won't stretch defenses the way Davis has and will allow defenses to stack the box more. Either way, I think this means Cooley will likely retire a Redskin without having played for another team. I'm a sentimental guy, so I hate seeing players finish out their careers with a year or two in a strange jersey like Monk with the Jets of Montana with the Chiefs (although I understand why they do it and I certainly would too if offered a similar opportunity).

I'll miss Davis's speed, but maybe we'll get him for relatively cheap for a year or two extension now. Hope he recovers quickly.

I would be willing to go so far as to say that his being back will ultimately lead to opposing teams not completing another pass against us. Why? Because sometimes the best pass defense is a guy named Chris Cooley.

Secondly Bellicheck did win 11 games the year Brady got injured and look at what Parcells did when Bellicheck was on his staff as opposed to when he wasnt. Point is they both showed me something at some point when they did not have a superstar qb. They both made their bones and worked their way up through the ranks. Kyle Shanahan was a graduate asst for ONE year with UCLA before John Gruden gave him a shot with TB before Gary Kubiack ( who coincidentally worked under Daddy for years ) gave him a shot with Houston. So please - please do not tell me they didnt give the kid a shot because of his last name. Kyle - grad asst one year

Texans - wr coach ( sure he taught andre johnson everything he knows - lol)/ hired by his Daddys Guy! After two years - one as a grad asst in college!
Redskins - hired by - guess who - Daddy. No Qb - horrible offense/ draft RG-3 - hes a genius like he was with Schaub/ Davis/ Foster!

There are hundreds of coaches all around the NFL who get their opportunity because of their last name. But to work your way up and maintain a job in the NFL takes a lot more than that.

Kyle Shanahan is highly sought after. And not because his last name is Shanahan

But SS how has he worked his way up? One year as a grad asst? One year as qc in tampa? Than three years in Houston with "the big three" - hired by his Dads guy? Than hired by Dad? How is that working your way up?

That would explain why Houstan's offense didn't skip a beat when Kyle left.

But it would (significantly) detract from Kyle's already thin and underwhelming resume.

If some other franchise wants an OC without any meaningful accomplishments, send him with a nice bottle of Scotch. I think the love fest for Kyle is beyond absurd, and I'm (still) not sure his apologists are even being serious, but whatevs.

The "big three" in Houston that you speak of were not the "big three" when Kyle was there. Kyle became the QB's coach in 2007 when Schaub got there, you could argue that Johnson was a established WR when Kyle was the receivers' coach in 2006, and Arian Foster didn't come into the league until 2009, Kyle's last year in Houston.

How is moving from QC, to a current position as OC, to eventually HC, not working your way up?
