Re: More Lenny P: O-line manhandled in scrimmage
in the first 30 minutes of the panthers game we should get more feedback on how our o-line truly is. Ramsey i feel after thinking about it did ok, he could have done better but lets not throw him to the sharks, the o-line gave ramsey little time to do what he had to do, take from that what you want,
the only credits i can give the line was that the defense knew we were going to pass so they blitzed and samuels was out. Both of these were due to the fact that it was a scrimmage. |

Re: More Lenny P: O-line manhandled in scrimmage
I just would once like one of the reporters to say what we should have done at the QB spot after how bad Brunell played last year. We had to have a plan B and that is Campbell who did not cost use alot of money but one can argue over the traded draft picks. If Ramsey falls on his face this year it will have been an excellent decision. If Ramsey decideds he wants to leave DC it was an excellent decision. If Ramsey gets hurt its was an excelent decision. If Ramsey plays realy good and stays in DC it may have been a bad move but we still need a back up so why not cover my first points with the back up. The line will be fine. One scrimage where the other team was trying new blitts packages is not something to worry about. If it was our last preseason game I would be worring.

Re: More Lenny P: O-line manhandled in scrimmage
i really don't care what lenny fatboy has to say. there were some positives, but he said we should've given champ bailey that fat contract extension, but look at how our cornerbacks did last season. on the other hand, lavar can cover and blitz. i think we made the right decision. and he went overboard when he criticized our o-line. ok, so we weren't that good, but he made us out like we've never heard of the blitz before.

Re: More Lenny P: O-line manhandled in scrimmage
I don't think either is "holding the other back"--it's more that the whole thing has to gel--and on a Gibbs team that starts with the o-line. My guess is that once that gels, Ramsey will settle down a lot. Remember how long Rypien had to throw back in the day? We don't need to break any records, but Ramsey's gotta get into a comfort zone a bit, a the line's gotta provide that for him. That's the key. Then Ramsey will look good, the recievers will be open, and GIbbs will be a genius--all becuase the blockers hold up for ONE second longer. That's all it will take, IMO. That, a few blitz pickups, and the box won't have 8-9 guys in it. Then hand the ball to Portis and get out of the way.

Re: More Lenny P: O-line manhandled in scrimmage
Hey, Offiss, you always seem to have it all figured out don't you? The Redskins should hire you as a consultant. Then maybe we'd start winning. Just do whatever you say and next thing you know we are back in the playoffs.
It isn't that easy. It is hard to take a team that has been nothing more than dismal the last 12 years and turn it around. Give Gibbs the benefit of the doubt. He will turn it around. Give him some time. |

Re: More Lenny P: O-line manhandled in scrimmage
A couple of first round picks for Ramsey?? Please.
I believe there were rumors of one first rounder, but it would have been more likely a second rounder. I'm tired of debating whether or not Ramsey is the guy for the job, if Gibbs has faith in him, etc. Talk to me after this season and we'll have a much better idea of where we're going with Ramsey. |

Re: More Lenny P: O-line manhandled in scrimmage
I didnt see the scrimmage, but the rest of the article seemed pretty accurate to me. TAFKAS -- It's not "what have you done lately" when you question Gibbs. He's the best COACH we've had in Washington since he left. However, his playcalling and GM duties should be stripped from him if he has a similar season to the last. He's a great motivator but he has yet to prove he can call games in the new NFL, he also hasnt proved that he can manage the cap or scout talent. Since he's come in we've picked up some good players (Portis, Washington, Tupa, Griffen, etc), and some bad -- the draft was VERY questionable. While I think Rogers will make a good pro, I would have rather upped the amount for smoot another million bucks to keep a proven player and go after BMW in the draft. Also, he has no confidence in Ramsey and it WILL chase him away. This isnt an era where you can have a QB sit on your bench for 5 years anymore. Especially a former first round pick - costs far too much against the cap.
So basically, I think that he's a great motivator and teacher, he demands respect. However, let's not try to trick ourselves into think that a majority of the offensive woes last year didnt fall directly on the coaching staffs shoulders, namely the playcalling crew.
