Maybe later this year would be a better time for this thread.. Right now comparing RGIII to anyone that he was in a peer group with last year is unfair.

You have a very negative view of RG3, and you constantly post your negative opinions about him. I'm certainly not talking about this thread in particular, but all over the WP. What's the point? I get that you don't like him, and although that's very stupid, everyone has a right to their opinions. But why are you constantly posting negative things about him? Are you trying to convince yourself of something?

Not to mention RGIII outperformed Wilson, despite might mouse having a superiour defense; more compotent receivers; and a stable offensive line.

Wilson had 4-5 more TD passes.

And RG3 made up that difference in rushing td's. Why does it matter as long as he's getting into the end zone?

I would not have gave up that much for RG3 and I said it when we did it. But what's done is done. He's the reason we're number one in rushing and he's a huge reason why we're in the position we're in. My only concern with RG3 is will he become a polished pocket passer. His style of play will shorten his career. We were VERY lucky that knee didn't snap into pieces.

Will he become a polished pocket passer? Really? But I agree with you with the concern of his style of play. I must say though that typically, the athletic QBs don't ever become polished pocket passers and their style of play puts then at risk for injuries. RGIII just needs realize his toughness is tougher than his body. He's not far from being a polished pocket passer. But then again, don't they have great OLs?

Russell Wilson is playing great ball. He just doesn't get the media hype that RG3 does. Great value pick by Seattle.

In part, the hyping of Jackson seems to me to be endemic of a fan base used to the lack of depth. Jackson is a solid player. He is a great 3rd or 4th OLB but an average to good starter. He represents something this team has lacked for so long - a home grown sub who has had time to marinate w/in the system. He works hard, belongs in the NFL and is ready to step in on game day. At the same time, he is not anywhere near Rak's talent level (or, IMHO, Kerrigan's for that matter).

If Jackson goes elsewhere, he will not be nearly as good as he is here. Bank on it.

I would give up another 1st rounder for Griffin in hindsight. Come on Man!

Re: Russel Wilson or Bob

Jackson is fine..good player. He doesn't bring the same type of effect to the game that Rak does. Teams have to game plan for Orakpo and Kerrigan. Guys like Jackson share in the spoils of having game plans that ignore them. That's a how a good unit is built. Have some top guys who carry the load in terms of the others team's focus and have capable guys who can capitalize on that. Just look at Pittsburgh for years. They didn't have 11 pro-bowlers on defense they had 3 to 4 really really good players and a bunch of other guys good enough to make plays that exist because of those really really good players.

Honestly I'm not even concerned about RG3's ability to transition over time to a pocket passer.

That said, for the next few years his legs will remain a huge weapon and he should still use them when needed. We've already seen the designed runs drastically cut down and he's been much smarter about getting out of bounds. He's only running a handful of times per game now mostly on scrambles when the pocket breaks down.

That's true but he's already been hurt twice now running out of the pocket. We were very fortunate that he didn't have a devestating knee injury last week. With his style of play we're going to need a quality back up.
