You are right that some of the comments here, including one of mine the other day, have not been all that classy. Sorry for that. However, please understand that we all have encountered English fans (not you) who have been so very arrogantly condescending that they could be Dallas Cowboys fans.
Yup. The entire reason for my "fish and chips" comment earlier. I have nothing against the UK as a whole. But man oh man their futbol fans are cocky.

Slovakia eliminates Italy with a 3-2 win. So defending champ Italy, and the runner-up France both gone

The Azzuri are the biggest bunch of flopping primadonnas. Good riddance. And France was just a mess. The arrogance of those two teams, I'm happy they got a face full of humble pie.

Both severely underachieved, and now both will watch the rest of the tournament from their couches like the rest of us.

That Slovakia-Italy game was exciting. For a team that is supposed to live off its defense, Italy had some lazy defending, particularly the Slovakia goal directly off the throw-in.

I'm glad to see all the world powers fall. Nice to know another will go down in the next round since England is playing Germany.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread

Who knew on June 11 that Italia would finish winless, last in their group, looking up at New Zealand, and lucky to even be in the game vs. Slovakia?

Sweet! Maybe the Azzuri and Les Bleus can party together to watch the rest of the cup.

If Spain loses tomorrow there's a decent chance you can add them to that party as well.

I love it...they did get cheated on that goal though...that was clearly in not that it would have mattered in the end.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread

spain wont lose tomorrow, they are a far better team than france or italy. looking at the talent on the french and italian teams, they were not near favorites to win this tournament. big name countries in soccer, but neither had the squad to back it up. spain on the other hand does, this is their golden generation for sure. id be very surprised if they are knocked out.

that said, im absolutely thrilled that italy are gone. i cant stand them or their fans. they are the biggest bunch of divers and play actors around. thank God they are gone.

The Japan-Paraguay match-up could be really exciting. Japan might be the best set piece team in the tournament.
