Re: How would you feel if Shanahan benches RGIII?
I do feel like this is a political move by Shanahan. I also don't expect an improved offensive showing at all. Cousins may have better fundamanetals in the pocket but does he have the big play ability to suceed if the NFL? I am also concerned that if we expect Cosuins to be our back up for the next couple of years, why put him on game film? Do we really want opposing defenses having that?

Re: How would you feel if Shanahan benches RGIII?
This is the ultimate bitch move by Shanahan. He's snubbing his nose to Snyder and the Redskins fan base by even posing this as an option.
As I've said before, there is NO upside to playing Cousins. If he plays lights out (which I doubt) then there is a controversy all offseason or at least until he's no longer RG3's backup. If he plays average or craps the bed, his trade stock is damaged and we end up not getting anticipated value for him. This damn season can't end soon enough. I'm not looking forward to another upheaval but I'm ready for this BS to be over and done with.

Re: How would you feel if Shanahan benches RGIII?
Who gives a rat's ass at this point if RG III starts. This team is just as bad if not worse than the stinking Cowboys. Our O line is mediocre, our D line is as well. Our Wr corp is way too inconsistent in making grabs, our defensive backfield has been a sieve since the Norv days, but at least the guys under Norv knew how to get an INT more often, although the yardage given up was worse. In short, RG III sucks and isn't going to get us to the promised land fellas. Sorry, no frigging way, with this collective bunch of fuck ups. Blow the whole thing up and start from scratch. And next time Mr. Snyder please don't go for the hype and go by pure scouting reports. Many scouts from the other teams had RG III nailed as an arrogant diva, but you needed your ticket and merchandise big name. Foles is going to get a ring before RG III.

Re: How would you feel if Shanahan benches RGIII?
Is the kid from Northern Illinois a senior? If so I say we draft his ass, especially if Cousins is nothing but trade bait, which makes sense. MSU QBs are not starting material, but make great backups. Shanny might be a prick, but RG III isn't much better if not worse. Do you think any decent HC is going to come into DC knowing he will have to kowtow to a punk? That the owner will take the punk's side in any future disagreement?

Re: How would you feel if Shanahan benches RGIII?
The sad fact is gentlemen that most owners of these storied franchises know damn well they don't have to win because the populace is always going to want to see their circuses. Folks left early from FedEx during the Chiefs game, but they already gave Snyder their money. It is like when Charlie Sheen told that guy in Detroit who told him the show sucked "Hey bro, I already have your $$$$$$$!" All these fuckers have to do is to get some new high profile players and make some noise off the field, and voila instant ticket sales. Snyder and Jones are fucking geniuses, and probably are laughing their asses off at how stupid people are continuing to support them. Until their bottom line is severely affected, they don't give a damn about winning. Oh yeah, they say they do, but they don't. They just want you to think they do.

Gus. Clearly that head butt is still affecting you as these posts are barely coherent. You don't even sound like you like football, much less the Redakins. We are obviously all frustrated, but to say that RGIII sucks or that none of the owners cares about winning seem equally untethered to reality. Give our QB a line that doesn't get him sacked 5 times per game and hit twice as often, more than 1 decent receiver, and competent play calling, and I am confident he'd be better than a middle of the road QB, which is better than we have had in DC in decades. And if you think that the owners don't want to win which, but the way makes them more money, I think you are quite mistaken.
Having said all of this, everyone in Redskins park needs to shut up, man up, and just play football. How about taking out some of the frustration on the Falcons? Get pissed. Do something.

Re: How would you feel if Shanahan benches RGIII?
I agree with Gus on the issue that Snyder doesn't appear to care about winning.
I was talking with a friend at work about FedEx field being empty by half time. I told him i hoped that the rest of the games would be that way, and he told me "Snyder already has the money. the tickets are already sold out". I believe too that if people stopped coming to the games (unlikely), and if merchandise sales went down (very unlikely), Snyder would have a new appreciation for what it takes to be in the NFL. It's tough for us fans, all of us, because we want to win and it seems like the few times we've been in the playoffs the last couple of years (99, 2005, 2007, 2012) have been because of a lucky schedule and a fluke series of wins, etc.. We want to be that franchise like others that are competitive and consistently in the playoffs....

Now the problem with Snyder is if he is involved with football decisions, it needs to stop immediately, whether he cares about winning or not. |
