We got great value for NEXT YEAR's #3 pick. NEWSFLASH: That pick will not be on the field THIS YEAR. There is a window of opportunity THIS YEAR. What we got in return was someone who can be a real goal line back -- something that we have been missing (and has cost us games).

Duckett does ease the stress of when CP will be back, but here is the part I'm really looking forward to:

Seeing what happens when Al Saunder's puts CP & TJ in the backfield at the same time. The way AS uses the FB position, this would create some amazing opportunities for mismatches that will result in points.
Great points.

The future is now, that's all you can be concerned about in today's NFL.

YouTube - T.J. Duckett Highlights - It looks as though he puts a good hurting on a defense.

this is true, we can keep portis around longer if we spread the workload a little more, less hits, more years for portis, and more red zone touchdowns

Wright On Time

there is a very interesting quote from gibbs in this article from redskins.com

Quote:
"Right now there have probably been 8-10 phone calls in here from different teams that want some of our players".
Now i know not all of those calls were for Betts' availability. Maybe some were for Patten. Could anyone else be on the trading block?

I'd bet that most of those calls are for Betts.

Maybe there's some interest for Patten, but WR isn't the valued commodity that RB is. Teams have real needs for RB, most teams on the other hand aren't begging for #3 WRs.

One last point for me to make, which is pure speculation, in aquiring TJ and sending Lellee to Atlanta, haven't we in some way hurt the Eagles who were interested in both players. Just a thought.......

Good point.

The Eagles haven't done much to address their needs at WR or RB.

Two premium players just went off the market.

GREAT THINKING. You're right.

The Eagles are hopeless for 2006. Westbrook is hurt, so is Buckhalter, Moats isn't the answer and they have no RB depth, so they're looking at a fragile and old Stephen Davis. WRs for McNabb to throw to since they can't run the ball are a 2nd-year #1 WR in Reggie Brown, Pinkston and Hank Baskett.

Not everyone was saying Davis could contribute and had years left. I can't recall what Buster's opinion has been but I wouldn't just automatically lump his opinion in with those that said Davis had something left to give and assume he changed his opinion.

That's right, I was one of the ones supporting giving Davis a look.......and for the record, I love the TJ move. Next year's 3rd rounder? Who cares? Chances are slim that you'd find a 3rd rounder next year with the ability of TJ.....and even then how does that help us THIS year? Trading 1st rounders in the worst case scenario? So what? I don't see Denver and the Skins finishing up all that far apart anyway. You're talking about maybe moving 5 or 6 positions.

I never said that... and there has to be a reason the Panthers released him. HURT, INJURY PRONE, and OLD when was the last time Stephen finished a season. I think it was when he broke the old Redskins rushing record (1999). Anyway we are much better off now.

Re: We traded for T.J. Duckett?

There appear's to be serenois yet to unfold in this trade that remain highly speculative. The fact remains the incoming player is the most important, and the ONLY way we'll be able to determine whether the trade is good, bad or indifferent is whether we reach a deal with Duckett that will assure his presence here to justify a trade at all. There's no way I can beleive there's not some ongoing discussion in this regard as we speak, otherwise none of this will make any sense at all. When this trade has been announced as official, that's the only thing I want to see; what type deal Duckett gets with the Redskins, everything else is speculative. We all know that trading for a player, giving up draft choices to be here until the bidding war begins does not make a lot of sense.

Re: We traded for T.J. Duckett?

everytime i think of it i smile. Sellers and Duckett. What the f...? I say the league brings out a new rule for this dominance and lets both of them wear their number 45.

Seriously i wonder what number duckett will take on. Big mike is not changing his number.
