Re: The Workplace
Love this thread! Sounds like the large majority of us are office workers. I work in I.T. for a mental health/substance abuse agency in southern VA. Most of the time, us I.T. people get labeled as the nerds with no personality, but I am actually the one who has the best personality in the whole department. That doesn't help much, because all of our employees come to me when they have computer issues. They are afraid to go to anybody else.
My biggest pet peeve at work is when someone will call me and will say that they are having issues with their computer and will ask me to come and look at it. They won't give me any specifics. When I try to ask them what is going on, they act like they don't know how to explain it. Nine times out of ten, it is usually an extremely simple fix such as rebooting the computer, but they insist on me getting up from my desk to walk to their office just to find out it was really nothing....something I could have fixed over the phone. Another pet peeve of mine is when someone calls me asking about a computer issue and I tell them I'll look at it after a meeting that I am currently heading to, and when I walk past their office, they're yelling at me to come in and help them with their computer issues...even though just a minute ago I told them over the phone that I was heading to a meeting and that I would check on it after the meeting. And finally, another pet peeve of mine. My workplace froze all the raises, unless you're one of the favorites. I haven't had a raise in nearly six years, yet they can afford to install brand new carpet that looks exactly the same as the existing carpet and not any better than what was on the floor. That cost the company over $100,000, yet they can't give me a 3% raise.....

Exactly. After she said that, I ended the interview.

Re: The Workplace
You didn't put her on the spot and ask her what that means?
