Lol I guess you guys are right then, here's the article where Keim said and between the signing bonus and guaranteed. But I don't really care about those details, I only care that McLaurin is back on the field with the team!

signing bonus (30m) is just part of the guarantees. he has a 10m option in 2026 that's also guaranteed (but gets pro-rated against salary cap, not dead cap) and his 2025 and 2026 base salary are guaranteed (the 4.65m). SB is just part of the total guarantees.

and yes 18m cap hit after 2026 would not be insignificant (but saves 16m over keeping him) and after 2027 it'd be 12m hit (release) vs 39m keep). It still provides the team protection. I don't think AP was ever going to sign a contract the team wasn't comfortable with (by guaranteeing big money into year 3, like DK's 20m).
