Re: In Scot we trust?

With draft picks you have to give it more time than just a season to declare it a good pick or bad pick. We do know that Doctson didn't help us in 2016 but that doesn't mean he won't. What if he's AJ Green for the next 3 years before we have to pay him big money? Having a big playmaker at WR on the cheap can be a big advantage. Let's see on him.

Last year we didn't have the same cap space as we do this year. That said, the moves McC did make whiffed big time. I agree, he must be more aggressive in free agency this go round.

If I were Gruden, going into a make or break season for my coaching prospects in 2018, I'd be down his throat about making moves. And frankly, he's right. I still want McC to be prudent, but it would do us no good to have $20M in cap space going unused. Hope he feels free to overpay a bit to avoid repeating last year. Get aggressive, still avoid guaranteed contracts that could hamstring us for 4 years, but gotta go for something. He's got to walk that line this year.

Re: In Scot we trust?

In one sense it's a shame. If you're drafting really well you don't need to dip into free agency so much. The player he hit on that I would have loved to see develop is Kyshoen Jarrett. Dude was flat balling at the end of his rookie season when he got hurt. He could have been a genuine answer at safety.

But, spilled milk. Can't cry. Bottom line is we now need a safety.

Sometimes when your picks don't work out you've got to use the cap space to find a replacement. We need to come up with an answer at that position, bad luck with Jarrett or not.

And when you have only 2 draft picks (Cravens + Fuller) contribute you better do a great job in free agency.

I think they carried over last year knowing KC was coming due. That 18Mil (i think?) from last year will go along way to writing a contract for KC that makes him happy and doesn't jeopardize the franchise.

agree, last offseason not good. Doctson pick and free agency wasn't good. We need to be stronger in free agency this year and cant wait to til the draft to fix holes.
I feel like the team put too much trust on Matt Jones. There are a few L's this year that could have gone the other way if we have had a decent running game.

Re: In Scot we trust?

I wouldn't even say we needed a decent running game (would have helped obviously). A couple of his freaking fumbles were absolute back-breakers. Not only did he fumble a lot, I feel like he always lost them too.

Between some poor-timed interceptions by Cousins and Jones' fumbles, we could have won at least a game or two more. Of course, hindsight and all that.

Re: In Scot we trust?

I predict Scot McCloughan's first three picks will be a ILB, A NT/DLman and a safety....Probably not in that order.....

Re: In Scot we trust?

Matt Jones is def a bust, I don't see how they can move forward with him. The coaches have zero confidence in him.

Jones has played well...The young man can play running back.....99 carries for 460 yards with a 4.6 per carry average shows he can play.....He just has fumbling issues..... Maybe they try to trade him for a 5th or 6th round pick this offseason.... Maybe they bring him back.

Are we watching the same Matt Jones? Until Matt Jones learns to run like he wants it, I don't want him on the field. The coaches might give him another chance but if his confidence is shot he will most likely end up elsewhere.

Hard to see Jones coming back, pretty sure they shopped him during the season but had no takers.
