Hypothetical situation, that I really really hope doesn't happen: Everything goes wrong for the Skins, they wind up with a top 10 draft pick. Everything goes right for Denver, they get the 32nd pick. Under this deal, Denver gets that top ten pick, Skins get the 32nd.

Scenario 2: Redskins finish with a better record than Broncos
Result: Skins give Broncos 2007 3rd and 2008 4th.

There is a bit more to the deal than that, but it's the simple version.
In the reports i have seen i did NOT see the word SWAP. This is the a quote from the report i saw.

"The report said that Denver will receive Washington's first- and third-round picks if the Redskins finish with a worse record than the Broncos this season. If Washington finishes with a better record, Denver would receive third- and fourth-round picks. "
Show me where you see SWAP in there.

I still have yet to hear from any of the Major sports news networks anything other than a 3rd round pick. I dont believe there is anything else.

There are plenty of other reports that mention the swap of 1st rounders. I'm tired of posting it so you'll have to look back in this thread.

Giving up a 1st rounder makes no sense at all. Common sense says a swap makes much, much, more sense.

We'll know the exact details soon enough.

You stole my thunder Matty that was the comparison I was about to make, and just like Betts he was traded early in his carreer. I also see similaratys to Larry Johnson.

I don't have a problem with this trade, Duckett is still young and I doubt you can find a back of his caliber in the the third round, further more he really fit what we want to do. I just don't want this to be a 1 year rental, I do believe we now have a true thunder and lightning backfield.

Broncos | Team could swap first-round picks with Washington
Tue, 22 Aug 2006 20:17:35 -0700
Correcting a previous report, the Denver Broncos could swap first-round picks with the Washington Redskins as part of the three-team deal involving former Broncos WR Ashley Lelie. If the Broncos finish with a better record than the Redskins, Denver would receive the Redskins' third-round pick and they would flip-flop first-round picks. If the Redskins finish with a better record than the Broncos, Denver would receive the Redskins' third- and fourth-round picks in the 2007 NFL Draft.

The best case scenerio involving the compensation for this deal is if Denver finishes slightly in front of us or very close, allowing the flip flop of the 1st rd pick which shouldn't be all that significant, in doing so we can hang on to our 4th rd pick.

we dont have a 4th pick...and everything says that we're going to give up our 2007 4th round draft pick...i really dont get that

Re: We traded for T.J. Duckett?

Be happy about TJ because Colts Mungro is done for the year. Shall we look now to dump off Betts who will hardly get touches with us this year???

I kind of would like to be greedy and keep all of them.

I'm too lazy to look up the link, but I've seen this "swap provision" as well.

Re: We traded for T.J. Duckett?

Everything hangs on the guys passing their team physicals. Does TJ have any concerns in that area? Was he hurt at all this training camp??

It funny after the Jets game I remember being in such a funky mood I was crying how I wanted what the Steelers had in a bettis type guy, a Duce, a Parker, a haynes - and we have just that TJ, CP, Betts. Rock. I couldnt be more happier.

Re: We traded for T.J. Duckett?

How can anyone not like this trade, his initials are TD! Ok, hokeyness aside, this is a fantastic move for the Redskins. This should ensure there won't be as much of a dropoff if Portis is dinged and provide a nice battering ram at the goal line and in short yardage situations.

Anyone else remember when Gibbs used to have a 3rd and 1 near mid-field, put Riggins or Riggs in and do play action and go deep? Worked almost everytime. Look for it again this year..

Re: We traded for T.J. Duckett?

Gibbs has a bruiser for goalline situation, as well as another change of pace back. MJG has a good point, as I am happy with all 4 as well.

Plus, it makes it that much easier to keep Warrick Dunn in my keeper league (got him 5th round last year)
