Probably nothing to worry about...Zorn pretty much said so at the time.

Matt Terl's blog today mentions that Mike Williams has a pulled quad muscle, according to Zorn.

Seems to me that we are expecting Mike Williams to make the team as a backup OT, which, seems like a plan that we would end up regretting. But ultimately, it freed us up to get rid of Jansen.

Jon Jansen, drafted in '99 - 7 quality NFL seasons
Mike Williams, drafted in '02 - 0 quality NFL seasons

Goin with the young guy!

The blogger at Redskins.com says that Mike Williams now weighs in at 365!

Redskins Blog -- The Official Blog of the Washington Redskins

His playing weight before he took time off from football was 370-375.

If he can get down to 350-55 he really might be able to play!

I personally think this is a great sign. There is no doubt whether he has the talent to play in the league. I think the criticism was whether he would make the commitment needed to succeed. Obviously, he has made a commitment to lose enough weight to be able to compete.

Maybe through desperation we found a gem!

He's 10 pounds less right now then his combine weight so I'd say he's ready to play though it would be nice if he lost another 20 (which I think he plans on doing anyway). CNNSI.com - Mike Williams - -

Man that's some serious weight loss. The obvious question now is can the guy play?

I'd love to see him have some sort of comeback player of the year story but I admit I'm still in the doubter camp.

If he can at least be a quality backup and give us some meaningful snaps here and there I'll be happy. Anything beyond that is pure gravy.

Much agreed Matty, anything positive that he can do for the team would be great.

The guy had the talent i just think somewhere along he lost the drive hopefully he's found it for us. If he's able to be a quality backup for us that would be nice.

And seriously, aren't we, as a fan base FINALLY due for something like this?

I am kind of suprised that there has not been more national attention payed to this story. It is truely amazing and alot better than another Bret story.

If he plays at all there's sure to be an E:60 or sportscenter story on him.

Let's watch this guy play a snap before we get too carried away. But yes, the Redskins are due for a guy to come out of nowhere.

It would be nice if that guy was already on our roster. We are also due for another teams star to be a star on the field for us too. There's always hope, but boy am I starting to believe in football karma.

Re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams

Yeah, I love the story, but I'm still skeptical about the guy. He sure has the drive - to lose close to 90 lbs over 3-4 months is like losing an entire person! I worry about two things:

1) If you lose that much weight, isn't he losing MUSCLE at the same time? We need him to hold off big DE's and not get tired quickly. Let's see how he does in preseason.

2) One of his problems in the NFL was recurrent back problems. Maybe with less weight now he may be better off, but I hope he doesn't kill his back again through the season.

I'm crossing my fingers but trying not to get my hopes up..
