I assume you're joking. But if not, why? He was a terrible coach (a quick google search can confirm a rotten record), plus before becoming a head coach, he was an offensive coordinator. I have no idea why we would do this, and I cannot imagine it would be to our advantage.

re: Hey Ho, Haslett has to go! (or maybe not)
I was in favor of waiting until after the season to make this move, but after today, I say make the move now. I'm not saying this is all Jim's fault, but it's obvious this defense has stopped playing for Jim even though it's hurting big time with injuries. They need a spark and they need one bad.
Also, the majority of our secondary and fletcher need to be replaced at the years end.

Like I said, I'm not one for firing coaches during the season, but it's obvious those players haven't responded to Haslett. The ones that aren't responding need to moved out at years end as well. It's just we need spark. Something. ANYTHING. This team is desperate. Personally, I don't see how any team loses 6 starters(2 pro-bowlers) on their squad and not suffer big time.

re: Hey Ho, Haslett has to go! (or maybe not)
The Redskins defense will play better the 2nd half of the season mark it here.. They can only get better and I bet we start using some of our younger players will get more playing time. Young players for the most part will listen to the coach than a vet who may have shut down as Smoot pointed out. Hey if this is true then Hasslet should play the players who will do their assignemnts. I D-line has to get more pressure, anyone seen Barry Cofield lately.( MIA) I want to keep the 3-4 defense so if Hasslet is fired along as they hire a 3-4 guy im good.

If you notice, they were specifically targeting Olsen's match up with Fletcher today. We were lucky that Olsen dropped a pass and Cam wasn't accurate or otherwise he would have been torched more than what he was. (olsen was targeted 9 times today)

Check my post history, I called this out at least a month ago. I keep harping on it also, but it's not just fletch struggling, riley struggles as well.

Perry Riley is the new Fletcher.

Yeah, I wanna blame Haslett, but since we are in a comparison type lifestyle.. How good is the Ravens defense now that they lost 2 of their best players?
We've lost 4.

re: Hey Ho, Haslett has to go! (or maybe not)
I think they should relieve Haslett of his post, but I don't believe Shanahan will. While the injuries have been bad, let's not forget that Meriweather and T-Jax were marginal players brought in to compete for a starting role. Everyone pretty much knew the secondary was a weak link even before the injuries and suspension. Orakpo's absence has been detrimental, as has Carriker's, but doesn't fully explain being one of the worst defenses in the league. Potentially one of the worst pass defenses in NFL history.
In my opinion, it's almost always better to make a move sooner than later, and especially now that the team is in a state of turmoil bordering on dysfuntionality. I just can't see how Haslett will be the D-coordinator next year, and prolonging the agony only adds further insult to all involved. This is an explosive situation that likely will worsen as the season goes on in my opinion. |

Bummer that doesn't seem to be the case, Shanahan won't take responsibility for hiring a clown.
Jim Haslett, other coaches are safe through bye week, Shanahan says [this post has been updated]

Look on the bright side: If enough people submit write-in votes for Jim Haslett for President today, then we Redskins fans could be rid of his dumb ass by January.

re: Hey Ho, Haslett has to go! (or maybe not)
The question then becomes, who do you replace Haslett with? Does Mike Shanahan still want the 34 defense or is he willing to alter the defense to a 43? Something tells me Haslett is not going anywhere and neither is the 34.
