re: Hey Ho, Haslett has to go! (or maybe not)
Alabama would without a doubt have the best 3-4 prospects along the defensive line and LB corps in the country. At least 5 out of their seven man front is headed to the NFL.

re: Hey Ho, Haslett has to go! (or maybe not)
Most teams have to convert linebackers from 3-4 to 4-3, Cushing, Patrick Willis, Bowman, Sean Lee, are a couple that I remember playing 4-3 and playing very well in a 3-4. Just about scouting and making sure you draft the players with the right skills to fit your system.

The thing is, you don't want to have another Rocky McIntosh or Andre Carter. Players who best suit the 43 and then have them play in a 3-4 scheme that's not suited for them.

Definitely. Thats why they are both gone. They were bought in / drafted for the 4-3. Fell victim to the 3-4. Donofriose nailed it though. The scouts have to really step it up when your drafting for a 3-4. Unless of course you are targeting a guy from Bama or one of those schools you referred to. Just that the talent pool shrinks from 300 schools to about 15 unless you are a good judge of a players raw ability to make the jump.

Firing Haslett would fix the problem the actual problem that at LB Coach, DL Coach and DB Coach. These units underachievement imo has lead to the collective failure of the defense.
And GM/player personnel situation also plays a factor in the lack of talent. We gotta hire a real GM. |

As far as Jim Haslett is concerned, I'm not really sure if he's to blame. His scheme while not top 5 or top 10 last year was much improved. If anything the big plays given up in the secondary this season is the defensive backs coach's fault, not Haslett. |

Mike should not be permitted to choose the defensive players that he wants for this team. Offensively, Mike is damn near genius when it comes to selecting players, it's just the defensive side of the ball he struggles mightily when it comes to drafting. Quote:
1) For selecting Haslett and Slowik 2) For selecting the players

re: Hey Ho, Haslett has to go! (or maybe not)
The D is garbage, its still a 3-4 D with 4-3 personel. Corners and safeties are the worst in the league. And to top it off, the play calling from Haslett is horrendous. The all-out blitz doesn't work against a 10 year old in Madden 13... why would it work against an NFL team?!? GOTTA GO

Ok, I was clearly wrong. Great job to Haz for the 2nd half of this season and especially tonight.

I'm one the ones that ripped him, I'll give him cautious credit.

re: Hey Ho, Haslett has to go! (or maybe not)
He figured out how to make a decent defense out of spare parts. I can't honestly say I thought he had that in him. To me a good coach takes what he has and builds from that. We did that on both sides if the ball this year. No way we can let Haz go. He's earned the shot to run a defense not depleted.

Give Haslett major major props. Tonight he just got after Romo, pressed the wr's and the db's were looking back for the ball. He gets the game ball along with Morris.
