I agree 100%. I don't get the infatuation with Gruden, he was barely a .500 coach with the Bucs (57-55) and a .540 coach overall. He never developed a QB in Tampa, only won with Dungy's players and its not like he was a beloved coach. The product never lived up to the production. He's a great quote and funny when mic'd up on the sideline but bottom line, his teams are nothing special.

I want Jon Gruden because I'm comfortable with the idea of his being able to be seamlessly integrated into a team of Bruce Allen, Morocco Brown, and Jon Gruden.

I like Guden's style of offense, his in-game coaching ability, and I think he would do a better job of developing RGIII and Kirk Cousins.
You need to talk to Herm Edwards

Yeah, I know. That's why I feel guilty about wanting Shanahan out so badly that I'm willing to endure a season-ending losing streak to ensure that he is replaced.

I don't see Shanahan resisting a new DC, since it wasn't his hire in the first place.

In the end I think the relationship with RG3 and MS is just too fractured to continue.

Wait what? Mike wasn't responsible for hiring Haslett?

If the relationship between him and Robert is as you say, then yes there is nothing more to discuss in terms of whether he stays or goes.

Cant' stand Mike Wise, but this is a pretty good article that HTTR/LL linked.

Mike Shanahan tried to stick with Robert Griffin III, and might have lost him instead - The Washington Post

Funny how the one act that Shanny thought would bring him closer to his QB may very well be the one that pushed him away. I just for the life of me can't understand why he didn't pull him. Like I said, Mike has lost his balls.

SS has hinted at this for a while now.

Da fuq??? Whoever is responsible for this shit should be tarred and feathered while being ran out of DC on a unicycle.

Most of missed those tweets. I know Haz wasn't his first choice, but didn't know he wasn't responsible for hiring Haz.

Dan Snyder must have consulted with Vinny Cerrato on that hire.

Hmm, thought they were in contact a lot while Shanny was out of the game in '09 and discussed 3-4, etc. Only other defensive name I heard was Slowick.

What a crap article. So Shanahan was too nice for keeping RG in that game, but never openly took any responsibility for the outcome?? Just asinine.

I thought I heard that Haslet wasn't even Shanahans 1,2,3 choice? Ended up with him.. I think it was HTTR that said it. Don't quote me though.

On the Haslett/Shanny issue. In Denver, in his last years, Shanny was going through DC's like toilet paper at an enema convention and stinking it up just as bad. I wouldn't be surprised if a condition of the hire was accepting a pre-chosen DC.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach

To clarify, what I said was Haslett was not Shanny's first or second choice. But it was a Shanahan decision. What I said about Snyder was that most people don't know in the summer of 99, he tried to hire Haslett away from the Steelers to be our HC. Cowher was livid that Snyder would try such a thing right as training camp is about to start that he got the league to deny Snyder's request to even interview Haslett. So with that background, I simply wonder what-if any-influence Snyder has on JH staying

Maybe it was you I saw that from then. I remember reading that he wasn't the first couple of choices that Shanahan wanted.
