Re: Plasma vs. LCD
I don't think you can go wrong with Panasonic, they seem to be the leader in plasmas right now.

Re: Plasma vs. LCD
I was reading that the prices are starting to drop on the larger flat panel displays, so I figure by Christmas time, I may have to reward myself for a good year...
and I think I'll probably opt for LCD over Plasma...but we'll see.

Re: Plasma vs. LCD
Read up on screen resolutions. Alot of plasmas can't display full hi-def.
NFL is shot is 720P. Make sure the set you can buy can properly display it. If you dont, you will get a screen that looks like its chopped off in the corners. I have a friend with a dell plasma 42 inch, you can't even see the score... Reviews: TV Reviews: LCD, HDTV, Flat Screen & Plasma Televisions & more - CNET Resolutions: HDTV-Resolution and TV Picture Quality My best advice is go to the store and look at the tv's you like. Compare them to other floor models. oh back on topic: The sony Sony KDS-R60XBR1 Reviews. Projection TVs Reviews by CNET. looks awesome!!! i dont know if they make a smaller version. |

I was also going to recomment CNET. They do a good job reviewing all aspects. I recently bought a 40" LCD Samsung and i'm very happy w/ it. The sound is not great but the picture is. Most of the time you'll be running the sound through a theatre system or stereo system anyway. I did some major research and finally decided to just get the one that looked the best and didn't cost the most. |

Re: Plasma vs. LCD
You should definately choose a projection-style TV over plasma for one simple reason: plasmas can't be repaired. They're basically disposable because of that reason.
Just buy a good 1080i projection TV and you'll be happy. I have a 42" Samsung and am VERY happy with it. It also cost a lot less than a plasma and I won't have to replace it if there's a problem down the road. |

Re: Plasma vs. LCD
Remember back in the day when it was easy to buy a damn TV.
Man, things are really complicated now. |

Re: Plasma vs. LCD
Still waiting for the price skimming to go down. Prices are droppping but not enough for me just yet. I think by the time the switch to digital cable takes effect prices on these tv's (LCD/DLP) should more closely reflect production costs rather than "new technology" novelty costs.
