Simms has solid career numbers and of course you can't forget his incredible Super Bowl performance. I think he's right on the borderline. He fought injury problems most of his career. If he had been healthier his numbers would be much better and he would probably be a sure Hall of Famer.

Re: Hall Of Fame: Vomit Inducing

His stats suck. His winning percentage is good but not against the skins He won the most against toward the end of his carreer when his buddy Norv was sinking our ship. In his hey day we played him straight up like the average QB he was.

Phil is a great guy and was a heck of a ballplayer ,he's still just 1 of 5 QB's to throw for over 500 yards in a game .I just did'nt think he was HOF stuff ,I think his injuries will be what keeps him out.

I think both Phil and Troy are geat QBs. Troy won more games in the 90s than any other QB, but his OL, RB and top two passing targets were a better combination than any other team. Phil did not have that talent. This is why I give respect to a team that can win with a guy like Mark Rypien.

Re: Hall Of Fame: Vomit Inducing

i hate when they brought up the fact that aikman went 1-15 his rookie season knowing that one game was against us.that made me wanna puke.

this is the year of the burgundy and gold.i,m ready to see this team rock and roll this year.

Re: Hall Of Fame: Vomit Inducing

Credit where credit is OVERDUE. If Monk does not get in, no way should Irvin even be considered for induction.

As for Aikman, during his induction speech, HE even admitted that his stats were not all that great and worthy of the Hall of Fame. But if you look at most of his career, most of the games he played in they were leading at halftime and he as just handing off to Emmit in the second half to control the clock.

Aikman is the winningest QB of any decade in the NFL, and that is a stat that helped him get in. Not only that, how many other QB's in NFL history went from 1-15 in one season and then hoisted the Lombardi trophy only 2 years later? Stats like those helped him get in.

I have never been a Redskins fan as most of you know, but I have always been a big fan of Daryl Green and Art Monk, two of the classiest players I have ever seen play the game. Monk should get nods over Irvin any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I know you'll all love this quote from our guy Norval:

"There are a couple of corners that are going to be up here in the next several years," Turner said, referring to (Darrell) Green's candidacy in 2008 and Deion Sanders' likely induction in 2010. "If they go in before Michael, it's not right. Because they never covered him. If a guy goes and catches nine balls for 160 yards on you, you shouldn't go in before him."

well if old norv says thats what they should do, it must be right...because he just knows everything about football

and this article was written by that moron charles robinson...cuz he knows what hes talkin about

and wouldnt deion have to wait to 2011 because he retired 3 years after green

and how come tagliabue doesnt have to wait 5 years to get in

Re: Hall Of Fame: Vomit Inducing

I think there are exceptions for non-players. Like I don't think Gibbs had to wait five full years either

Ahh, I see. One game makes a Hall of Fame performance, according to Norv.

That would rule out his presence in the Hall, would it not?

Re: Hall Of Fame: Vomit Inducing

So here's a question. Since it's the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and not the NFL Hall of Fame does that mean that say Doug Flutie could get inducted, solely based on his dominance in the CFL, and say Kelvin Bryant could get in based on his dominance in the USFL? And someone from Arena Football too?

My guess is that technically yes right? But they must have an unwritten understanding that you have to been Hall of Fame caliber as an NFL player. Because I mean Flutie, no matter how good he was in the CFL, is not getting in before Favre.

Re: Hall Of Fame: Vomit Inducing

I think so. In fact, I thought I heard a year or two ago that Warren Moon was basically getting in because of his CFL numbers. There's a good chance that there is a freon leak in my basement so I could be making this all up.

Idiotic comment. Irvin got the better of Green past his prime and when the skins had mediocre teams. Norv couldn't beat San Fran when Deion was there so what is he mouthing off about?

Not only would they never let someone into the "pro football" HOF based on numbers in any pro league besides the NFL, the HOF does not even mention that any other pro leagues (USFL, WFL, CFL) even exist or existed. I was shocked when I went a few years ago and saw that omission. The HOF needs to be renames the NFL HOF because it ignores all non-NFL pro football.
