Re: Can't standup at FedEx?

What an idiot. He's too lazy to stand up to see the game? In my section, everyone was standing up and screaming when the defense was on the field. He needs to get with the times or go home.

Re: Can't standup at FedEx?

Thanks Irish, I thought that I would be the lone dissenting voice on this. I've been regularly going to games at FedEx since it opened. Before that I was a sporadic visitor to RFK. At every game there are always a handful of jokers, who are inevitably not season ticket holders, who feel that they need to make the most of their one game experience by getting drunk and urging everyone else to stand up and cheer. They will stand up whenever they want despite how many people's view they are blocking. If this is you let me clue you into why people get upset with this kind of behavior. The rest of us have been here before. We are not wine drinking snobs. We understand that specific situations warrant different responses. Different games warrant different responses. We know that you are excited but when you are in Rome do as the Romans do. We didn't pay $109 to see your back and have our behavior dictated by your drunk ass. When we score or when it's 3rd and 8 and they have the ball we'll stand up with you. Otherwise, keep your eyes on the field and ignore the beer vendor for a quarter. Plus you might want to learn the word to "Hail to the Redskins" espescially the middle verses.

That would be nice in a perfect world.

That's like going to a concert and expecting people to sit down in front of you.

Well Glonn, what if I were to tell you that this is when people stood up in my section and yet they were still getting yelled at to sit down; because that is exactly what was happening. Likewise, my sister was getting yelled at to sit down 5 minutes before kickoff. The woman screaming at her tried to use that BS season ticket holder excuse too. Her and I don't have season tickets, but we go to about 5-6 games a year and have for quite a few years now, so we know what to expect. Just because someone signed up for season tickets back in the 80's or earlier doesn't mean that they are more of a fan.
The Redskins try to act like we have such great fans and such a loud/tough home field advantage, but it's the stuck up people who make FedEx nothing more than big, when it should be one of the hardest places to play in.

If you want a clear view of the game for the entire time that stay at home in fron of the TV!

I couldnt have said it better myself.

There are times to stand up and cheer like the Vikes final drive last night and even whe the skins were going in for their 1st TD of the year but on every play when the other team has the ball. Gimme a break.

Not. In my opinion season tickets holders should be give some respect. They floated the team through the Pettibon/Turner/Robisky/Schottenheimer/Spurrier era after all. If they indeed signed up in the 80's I WOULD say that they are bigger fans. Did it ever occur to you that the people behind you may be a. elderly, b. tired, or c. just don't freaking want to stand up just because you are? If you know what to expect at FedEx then why are you surprised that you are getting hell from people when you stand up? Finally, to use your logic, If you want to stand up for the entire game then go to a bar and watch it there. The beer is cheaper and there aren't all of those SEATS getting in your way. Plus the enrty fee is a lot cheaper.

Well you dont have to stand up every play but you better be cheering as loud as you can on every defensive play to give this team a home field advantage. You should be doing everything you possibly can to help your team win.

So are you forceably silencing all opposing teams fans when our offense is at work?

Re: Can't standup at FedEx?

Gloon,

First of all, you assume everyone that goes to a game and isn't a season ticket holder is drunk. I've gotten tickets every time I can get my hands on some and this is the first time I've ever had something to drink before the game, that said I stood up less this game than in all the other ones.

Secondly, I checked the people behind me, and they weren't elderly. If you're tired, go home and take a nap, you have a much better view from home if seeing is your deal. The game is all about the ambiance of the game. They players are telling people to stand up and be loud, the jumbotron constantly shows signs saying to stand up and be loud. I paid the same price, probably MORE for my tickets than that guy, and so I can enjoy the game how I like.

If you aren't excited about your team and don't want to cheer, go home. There are plenty of real fans out there that would love to go in your place. This douche didn't even clap or scream the whole time.

Re: Can't standup at FedEx?

The majority of the opposing fans who go to the games probably get their tickets through season ticket holders who don't care enough to go to every game.

I can understand getting mad at people who stand up when the Skins have the ball or when someone gets hurt or something like that. I also get mad when the people around me constantly get up and down when the Skins are about to run a play, but I say you should be on your feet screaming when the other team has the ball. Chicago didn't have all those false starts last year because Washington fans were sitting in their seats clapping like they were at a child's class play.

And going back to the thing about actually getting season tickets: you're right; I should have signed up for the waiting list when I was 4 years old. I must be a terrible fan.

If you want to sit in a quiet place to watch the game, STAY HOME.

It's a football game! It's supposed to be loud and exciting.

I was at an O's and Yankees game a month ago and even though I wasn't a fan of either team (my wife is from NY and a big Yankees fan, so this was cheaper and easier than driving to the Bronx to see the Yankees), but when the home crowd stood up for the entire last inning, we stood up too without whining.

If you're so old or sleepy that you can't handle the atmosphere, don't go and poop on the party.

Re: Can't standup at FedEx?

I hate to admit it, but I was at a Ravens MNF game a few years ago in good lower level seats, and guess what! Everyone stood for the entire game and no one bitched! It was a terrible game at the end of the season (ironically it was against the vikings) with no play-off implications and it was snowing, but that didn't seem to matter to their fans. Maybe not having football for 17 years made them desperate, but it also weeded out the crappy/boring/stick in the mud season ticket holders.

And by the way, I've known all the words to HTTR since my class had to learn them in 2nd grade.
