Re: Curious Yet Obvious?

How about his 06 injury............. No one to throw the ball to during the playoffs!

That one hurt the most!

Re: Curious Yet Obvious?

I can tell you what is curious yet obvious. SWFL has a diverse group of football fans,as many have settled here from other parts of the country. Yesterday, in SW Florida, local Miami radio station (which I can pull in on a good day) had contest for listeners. If you had the choice to give HOF entry to ONE guy, who would it be? Choices are: Michael Irvin, Tim Brown, Andre Reed, Art Monk. Monk won handily! I was shocked. Nice to see the general public (if not the media trash) agrees he deserves it!

Re: Curious Yet Obvious?

Wasn't Campbell getting reps last week due to Brunell's rib injury? Also, remember Brunell's deep gash on his elbow? Brunell's been injured quite a bit since he got here, even though he hasn't missed games due to injury.

Not enough to keep him out of the lineup, though one could argue he was banged up to the point where he shouldn't have played against Philly late last year. Maybe if they had rested him in that game he would have been fresher for Tampa.
There was a finger or thumb problem too.

IIIIIIIIIRONIC!
our o line has only let 10 sacks this whole year. now compare that to the raider who have like 49 sacks.

our o line is very good at pass protection, now run blocking thats another story

Re: Curious Yet Obvious?

Speaking of protecting the QB, why do we allow such bitch ass rules for them? I mean are the other skill positions not as important? I say just drop the rules and let the guys play football.

I understand the intent of the rules to protect QBs, but the refs are so damn touchy with calling roughing the passer it's just ridiculous. The worst was in the Bengals-Bucs game this year where the Bengals got flagged for roughing on a sack. That was a piss poor call, one of the worst calls of all time if you ask me.

I thought the Sean Taylor sack was kind of a lame call too...

It's one thing if you hit him late, and its flagrant... another if the QB is avoiding a sack, and your get him the only way you can, at his knees.

Why not protect lineman more? Why not protect punt returners? Lets make some consistency with our ruling... We all understand that the QB is a very valuable position, but that's almost implying everyone else isn't worth protecting.
----------------------

On the other hand, It's gotta be damn hard to discriminate what's a low blow, and whats a legit hit in an instant....

Mabye there should be an ref devoted entirely to the QB position... just watching him, and his knees, and the pass rushers... to make a call like that. It happends almost every game at least once.

Those already exist. They're called Redskins fans.

[QUOTE=RedskinRat;242127]Given the way the zebras protect the QB QUOTE]

Dead right RedskinRat. No one wants to see QBs getting injured but don't you think that the protection of them has gone too far? For example, Taylor got flagged for hitting Romo low which was just a ridiculous call - there was nothing malicious or dangerous about the hit at all. Soon the defenses will have to play flag football with the QBs.

It comes down to the fact that the QB is the glamour position in the NFL. They are the big money guys, the faces of the franchises, and the last thing the NFL wants to see is a guy going down for the season like Palmer last year in the playoffs. Big time QBs = ratings, so the NFL tries to protect these guys at any cost.

Re: Curious Yet Obvious?

Just put a big Sack button on the QB's chest that lights up when you hit it. Yay! What fun to watch!
