Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
The defensive line also play really well...stopping the run and creating pressure on the qb

Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
What about special teams? Frost has been punting pretty damn good lately, and Randle El almost broke one. and i have a feeling we might be seeing Doughty this week on JACKED UP

Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
To me it is definitely the Defense, most specifically Carter and Rogers. Rogers INT was pivotal and of course his Pass Defensed to end the game was fantastic. Carter played awesome the entire game, applying much needed pressure to disrupt the passing game. He is really starting to show some hustle across the field.

Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
If not, there is definitely an "anti-Skins" attitude with the producers of that segment. Great tackle/hit!

Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
The defense played excellent today. GDub finally got the defense to play on all cylinders today. You couldn't ask for anything more from them.
Especially when the Saints were driving late, after Suisham made it 16-10. The only thing in my mind was 17-16 Saints win, especially with the way that their offense has played all year. And the defense came up "Milhouse".

Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
Against the number one O, on the road, with our offense only putting up 16--it's gotta be the D.

Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
defense
the oline did an amazing job though, including wade. which made betts and campbells days go muh easier. If we scored more tds my vote may have been different. so mabye i should just vote for the kicker...lol

Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
Unfortunately, I didn't see get to watch the game. However, judging by the score, the defense has to get the nod as the MVP. I can remember checking the scores in the late 4th quarter and thinking my phone was broken when I saw that New Orleans only had 10 points! I thought, "oh gee ... it must not have updated the score since half time."

Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
Without a doubt, the defense was the MVP of this game. The run defense was superb. Duece McAllister and Reggie Bush are a tough matchup. Duece has a lot of power and Bush is one of the quickest and allusive backs in the NFL. Stopping those guys was impressive. Thats the kind of defense effort I expected for the entire season. The fact that we didn't see that kind of effort every week, is what was most disappointing this season.

Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
The Defense. They stopped a team that no one could stop. No, they DOMINATED the Saints offense. Brees didn't have time to throw, and he has the quickest release in football. Bush did nothing. McAllister was shut down. Carlos Rogers made a few HUGE game-saving plays. The D was stingy near the goal line too. I loved on one pass in the red zone to Colston where Springs took out the ball while Taylor took out Colston's body...incredible double-team.
It was the defense we've known for a few years...before this year. It was great to see them back. However, the offensive line, even without Jansen DOMINATED the defense, Campbell was hardly touched or even rushed. Betts ran all over the D. Campbell looked like a star QB in all areas of his game. His throws were powerful and accurate, even at 50 yards and they were only catchable by Redskins. The only bad things about Sunday was Lloyd's "losing the ball in the lights" play that would've been a TD on a great pass by Campbell and our inability to cash it in near the goal line. If Marcus Washington had been able to pull in that screen pass to Bush and scored...we could've won the game 35-10. However...it was nice to see MADE field goals, even if the kickoffs still looked bad. (YOU CAN'T PUT KICKOFFS OUT OF BOUNDS...UNACCEPTABLE!) Pretty much the whole team deserves the MVP award, but the Defense stood out the most. |

Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
Apparently, we've all forgotten the true MVP here...Mark Brunell??
"Mark did a tremendous job last week in practice," assistant head coach/defense Gregg Williams said. "He was so good at getting rid of the ball so fast that by the time we got out there, it was more of our routine than something we hadn't seen much of. It was a tremendous part of our preparation."

Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
What about Gregg Williams (I guess he would go under defense)? All day long the crappy announcers kept saying how it looked like we were confusing them with our coverage. Brees would read man to man but we'd drop into zone and blitzes, like the Marcus washington sack, weren't picked up all that quickly. All the post game stuff I've read has said the same thing.
Remember when they used to play like this every week? That was fun.

Re: Redskins/Saints MVP?
this was the 04 and 05 defense, reinvented. gang tackling, hard hitting, and everyone getting after the ball. what an overall game that i hope is a preview for next season. that first half was bombs away by campbell. more long pass attempts then probably all season,. combined
