Re: Mike Doss?

I can remember that the Skins were high on him when he came out of Ohio St. they were looking to select him before T. Jacobs
Unfortunately fell in their laps. I don't think he would be a bad pick up as long as the price is right. He was pretty good before all the injuries hit.

Re: Mike Doss?

I thought Mike Doss had attitude or conduct problems, moreso than your typical NFL player.

Exactly, the skins were very likely to pick him in the second round and Jacobs fell into the OBC's lap and of course we all know how that turned out.

He's a decent safety, but we already have an over-paid under achieving safety, do we need another one?

He'll come much cheaper than AA.

Re: Mike Doss?

Other players available to us at #44 in the 2003 draft...

-- Osi Umenyora (DE, taken by NY at #56)

-- Anquan Boldin (WR, taken by ARI at #54)

-- LJ Smith (TE, taken by PHI at #61)

Just goes to show even a slew of draft picks won't matter as long as you have clowns making the picks.

I say we bring him in for depth if he isn't looking for huge money, and who knows maybe he will develop into a starter for us, he is young so there is an upside.

Re: Mike Doss?

He's a high draft pick and got caught w/ guns a few years ago. Plus he's coming off an injury. Looks like he's a perfect fit for the Raiders. But he's probably better than anyone we have at FS.

Re: Mike Doss?

He a good player but why would you want to sign a guy coming off a ACL injury. We should have drafted him instead of Taylor Jacobs.

Re: Mike Doss?

We did get Dockery in the 3rd round that year, can't hate on that. All your picks can't be winners, considering we only had 3 picks that year at least we got 1 quality starter.

Re: Mike Doss?

He's ok when he's healthy, but he doesn't stay healthy. In 4 seasons he's missed 24 games.

But he was good enough to start as a rookie, making 105 tackles, defend 5 passes, force 3 fumbles, and grab a pick.

So he ain't dogmeat by any means.

Re: Mike Doss?

Would I pay Mike Doss big bucks in the FA market? No. Let me be clear about that. NO!!

But I find it interesting that some folks here think he's a bum because his cover skills as a safety are "suspect". And they are...

However, no one currently on the Redskins roster who plays safety can cover a corpse. So, in the spirit of consistency, can we please say that signing Mike Doss is not a good idea because he's no better at coverage as a safety than any of the jamokes we already have under contract...
