But who is our 2nd back then when Portis goes down?

Vilma was DROY in 2004 playing in the 4-3. I would do it if we got to keep the 6th pick. Ladell Betts is good but there are plenty of running backs out there who could replace him just as easily.

if we did trade Betts, there would be a possibility of keeping Duckett. I dont think he would want to stay, but he could be used very well with portis.

The Jets would have to give up their next pick as well before I would consider it.

DUCKETT IS DONE! He didn't do JACK. Ladell carried the load and they rewarded him to a nice 5 year deal, WELL DESERVED! More than I can say for most of the FA that we signed! LB is a real SKIN, and will be with us for many years to come!

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested?!(from a primary source)
i love Vilma. and i think the skins would be fine with Cartwright backing up Portis. but to fall that far in the draft, the jets would have to sweeten the pot. but another guy from the 'U'? definitely

t.j.duckett and our #6 for vilma and thier #25 sounds much better to me.
they would be getting a much better deal if we gave them betts and the #6.

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested?!(from a primary source)
Rocks done a heck of a job, but he's not a #2 in the backfield. Can't campare Rock to Ladell. Ladell is a #1 on most teams. I'm quite sure there are many teams that would like to utilize him as there #1 back. We're in GREAT shape if CP is healthy and LB is on the sidelines with fresh legs!

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested?!(from a primary source)
I don't like the trade as reported. I think that Betts and a 2nd or 3rd in next year's draft would be fair. The Jets need a running back in a bad way, were reportedly interested in him last year, do not have a pick high enough to get a good back, and I don't think there's a feature back on the free agent market. My guess is that if they are serious, they will reduce their asking price.
Moreover, I don't think we need a back of Betts' caliber as a backup. Having two feature backs on a team that has an abundance of holes at starting positions and depth issues doesn't make much sense to me. Don't get me wrong, I like Betts, but I think we have other areas of need that need to be filled. I'd like to have both Betts and extra picks, but we probably can't have both and I'd pick the extra picks or players over an extra feature back. |

You don't like the move or the player? Because the player is one of the best LBs in the game.

I guess you're assuming we would re-sign TJ before dealing him, because he's currently set to become a FA.

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested?!(from a primary source)
Regarding this original post, I'm not saying this "deal" is made up, but I will say it's hearsay so I would encourage everyone to not get too worked up. Take it for what it is, a guy who supposedly talked to a guy. Sorry but I've heard these things too many times before.
