Re: Redskins And Pucillo Agree to a New Deal

This is the best news I've heard all day.

Hopefully he doesnt have to start for us, but if he does--at least we know things could be worse.

Yes, it will, but probably not until 2009.

Re: Redskins And Pucillo Agree to a New Deal

Be still my fluttering heart; this is the contract agreement that will put it all over the top and assure playoff glory next year. Anyone know when they will hold the parade?

Why did Pucillo agree to a minimum contract prior to free agency? Simple. If he didn't sign here, who else would want to waste the time and effort to negotiate with him for anything more than the veterans' minimum? That would be Nobody and No one. If he didn't sign here, he would not have gotten a better deal anywhere else and may have gotten no deal at all anywhere else.

Please, everyone remember the caliber of player who just signed for the veterans' minimum so that the next time there is a player of some repute who might be available we don't hear a hundred suggestions that the Skins sign him for "the veterans' minimum". Those deals are reserved for players who:

A. Have yet to show that they can do anything beyond putting on their jockstrap in the correct orientation or

B. For guys so far over the hill that they should have retired long enough ago to be eligible for Hall of Fame consideration.

This deal does not amount to a pinch of possum sh*t

Taking the vet min offer shows that Pucillo thinks theres no demand for his services.

He's right.

But that doesn't make him a bad player.

I bet his Madden rating is lower than Albright's!
