Re: ESPN: Redskins Sign London Fletcher

That's a lot of money to throw around. If I had to guess, I'd guess they are planning on letting Doc walk or trade the 6th pick.

Per the ESPN article
"A human tackling machine, the undersized but ever-active Fletcher has averaged 143.4 tackles over the past five seasons. Unlike most middle linebackers around the league, though, Fletcher can stay on the field on third down because of his solid skills in pass coverage."

Oh man is that a sweet paragraph.

Didn't realize what went down today with Doc. I've been out of touch the whole day negotiating my own multi thousand dollar contract

This is the first step to turning around the defense. Marshall did not have the physical attributes necessary to fight of blocks and make a tackle. Fletcher has proven that he does. He is a proven middle linebacker in the Williams system.

Obvously you cannot compare contracts that are given out this year to previous contracts.

Dockery signed a contract with 18 million guaranteed worth a total of 49 million. That is insane.

25 million seems pretty reasonable this year.

Randy Thomas got a $7M SB a few years back, so giving Dock an $8M SB today would seem about right (particularly when you consider that Dock is nowhere near as good). Champ Bailey got $18M in bonus money a few years back, so Clements getting about $14M this year would seem right (particularly when you consider that he's nowhere near as good). Instead, these players got about DOUBLE what they should have gotten. But, the salary cap hasn't increased twofold in the past 2 years. So, this s---t is just crazy.

The first thing that I thought about when I heard Dock's contract was Hutchinson's deal.

Hutchinson is the premier guard in the league and Dock is making what he made.

I think that everyone on the site will agree that the Redskins should not have matched or offered the deal that Dockery signed.

This money seems about right. In fact it seems downright cheap.
