What about that whole behind close door meeting Chaney had with the Energy companies? You know, the one whose transcripts they fought to keep sealed. It reeks of impropriety.

I wonder why we're not hearing the same reports accusing Republicans of fixing gas prices now that the Democrats are in charge? Hmmmmmm...

What does that have to do with Cheney making this so called profit from the oil co. a It was a closed door meeting with all parties attending listed for public information. The President only has to disclose who attened the meeting and not the substance when these meetings go on. If they had to disclose everything that was discussed at the white house how could they get any thing done. The Dems. made a big issue of this knowing that the Pres. would fight them on the issue as if they gave them the information then they would have set a presidence (spelling). Then the Dems would use this to make them disclose other meetings and nothing would ever get done. This is not new and was practiced by all presidents so they could get stuff done. The Dems. then by making this an issue could then point their finger and say see they are with big oil and they are hiding this info from us. I guess it worked by post.

It's fully loaded, and I love it, but it has AVERAGED me 14.4 mpg. I've thought about trading it in, but I love having a truck, and to get something that would replace it in my heart would cost like 40-50k.
What's even worse, I live about 1 mile from where I work, so I could walk to work (my wife could too), AND I have a motorcycle that gets a good 45-55 MPG. My wife makes me wear a helmet and it messes up my hair. So I still drive the truck.

Time to take a look at mini-vans?

Re: Gas price jump!

It must be awful to have to pay $3.50 a gallon for gas!!! Try living here, I live in N.Ireland and currently the price is £0.94 a LITER (approx. $1.88 a liter), on mainland UK the prices are around £1 a liter.
Seriously guys, you might think you are hard done by, but I would love to pay so little - one of the reasons you don't see as many powerful cars over here is due to the cost of gas!

That's a good point, you see a lot of those ugly little 2 door specs over there, or a bunch of people driving scooters.

WE NEED TO MAKE CORN INTO OUR NEW FUEL!!!!!!!

By my calculations, that adds up to about $7.80 per gallon.

Re: Gas price jump!

Oh boy, here we go.

The prices always rise in the spring because environmental regulations require different and more expensive blends for gasoline in the warm weather months.

If you want to get pissed at someone, blame the ecological nutbags who go crazy everytime there's a proposal to build a new refinery or drill offshore (as they are doing now with the plan for drilling off Virginia's eastern shore) or in the Gulf of Mexico, or the Florida Everglades.

Maybe that way, we can start using some of the oil right here in the U.S. rather than having to kiss the feet of the Arabs in the Middle East.

Re: Gas price jump!

I still blame this price jump over the last few months on the fact that I was dumb enough to go out and buy a Jeep. I swear the week I bought it the proce of gas jumped about 10 cents and hasn't stopped going up since.

Sorry

Re: Gas price jump!

I think we are all spoiled by our old fuel economic vehicles. I had a 1991 Acura Integra, which I "pimped" for gas mileage rather than power. I remember once getting 50 mpg on the highway.

God, I miss that car.

Re: Gas price jump!

These prices are all BS, Its the govt thats in place that allows the big oil companies to charge whatever they want, I thought our govt stepped in when a monopoly was in place, guess not when the Pres. and VP have thier hands in the oil companies money too!
Its strange when congress steps up and starts complaining about gas prices, the drop. CONGRESS WAKE UP!

I thought that this president wanted to allow more drilling in the US to help with this problem but on every turn the DEMs stopped him. Also if I remember correctly when the Rep. had control the Dems. yelled and screamed. Then they made a show of it by dragging all these Oil CEO's up in front of congress. They seem to be very quiet about gas prices now that they are in control. Could please explain how the Pres. and V Pres. have their hands in the OIl co. money?
