Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.
I love CP, and I think he is an elite RB. However, I would not be disappointed if we traded him for some 1st day picks. With the exception of our secondary, we are old at every position. We need youth desperately, and this is one possibility that could help. If we could get a 2nd and a 3rd, then we'd have our 1st, two 2nds, and two 3rds. If we did it right we could get 5 starting-quality young players for relatively cheap. I would be pleased if this happened.

CP speaks what he is thinking w/o worry for what others may infer from those comments. He's right, though, if he doesn't perform or can't stay healthy the Skins should get rid of him.

Yeah, I agree I don't think we need to be overpaying 2 running backs. Before we release him though I think we should secure another decent running back.

I think all CP is saying is that if you are not healthy a team is not going to keep you around very long. Especially when you have good depth at that position, aka Betts. Really a non-story.

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.
Portis is only pointing out the reality of being an NFL player. I don't understand why people are misrepresenting his statement. He simply said "If I don't do my job I'll probably be out of here." Truer words have never been spoken.

I don't want to think about CP unable to go. However, if he cannot, how big is the Bett's contract extension?

Oh and BTW, don't bother reviewing the Portis-Bailey trade since Bailey wasn't sticking around D.C. anyways and we've talked about that trade ad nauseum. |

Seriously. I don't understand why everyone thinks Champ would still be a Redskin if the trade never happened.

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.
Technically the Skins could have put the franchise tag on Champ hence the trade.

Champ was not going to be here no matter what.
End of story. |

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.
didn't we go over this, and over this, and over this? Bailey did not want to play here. and Portis speaks the truth about him and injuries. he had better get healthy, because no one can help their team from the trainers table. and that makes them expendable

All the Chicken Littles around here...you'd think the sky was actually falling. C-Po knows how to play the game, and knows that there is a capable 1000 yard back waiting in the wings. End of story.

The title was pulled directly off of SI.com and I tried to clarify in the first post that this wasn't that big of a deal. I could have used "Portis says this could be his last year with the skins if he doesn't perform as well as he is expected to due to injury or simple physical degradation" but I wasn't sure it would fit...
