But it's not as if he is the first guy to complain about Coughlin over the years.

Re: Tiki at it agian

Coughlin's got some issues, but here's how I'd weigh his contributions to the game:

93-83-0 (Regular Season)
4-6 (Postseason)
97-89-0 (Overall)

Which, by and large, ain't too shabby.

Tiki's got some issues, too. But if he looked hard at his career, he'd realize Coughlin wasn't really one of them.

TDs from 1997-2003 (pre-Coughlin): 26
TDs from 2004-2006 (Coughlinian): 27
YPC from 1997-2003 (pre-Coughlin): 4.47
YPC from 2004-2006 (Coughlinian): 5.03
Fumbles per Touch (Rush/Rec) from 1997-2003 (pre-Coughlin): 2.14%
Fumbles per Touch (Rush/Rec) from 2004-2006 (Coughlinian): 0.77%

He may have "killed the love of the game", but by nearly every measurable stat, he resuscitated Tiki's ability to play it. If Tiki makes the Hall of Fame, he can attribute it to two things - Tom Coughlin, and the fact that the Redskins couldn't stop him... ever.

Tiki keeps talking, Coughlin get's fired, the Giants pay him the 10mil. he says they owe him, and he returns to the team to become a thorn in our side again. I don't ever want to see him in a Giant's uniform again. I truly hope he does not talk himself off the set, he might decide to play again.

Re: Tiki at it again

I think that now with Tony Dungy winning a super bowl a new prescadence has been set about how players expect coaches to treat them. Before players would look at 'nice guy' coaches and say they seem nice to play for but if I want to win I got play for a guy who barely knows how to smile.

Tiki might have taken a look at the Colts and throught thats the kind of coach I want to play for. The type of coach that treats his players with the respect and class they deserve (though this is up for debate concerning certain players).

If I had to label Gibbs coaching style then I would label him as a Parcells/Dungy hybrid.

Re: Tiki at it again

i used to respect tiki but callin out all your teammates and coaches, even if it is just to sell a book, is cowardice. if you were unhappy with it at the time then deal with it then.

stop dwelling in the past tiki, time to move on.

When the Tom Friend article apeared last year in the WasPost and created such a stir, I recall Antonio Pierce boasting about what great organizational unity existed within the Giants organization, contrary to what he had experienced at times while he was here. I wonder if his take now is still the same.

Yes. They are unified by their hatred of Coughlin.

Re: Tiki at it again

It sounds weird saying this about a retired player, but the only person he's really hurting is himself. It sounds like he still has to prove something, I just don't think anyone cares. He's yesterday's news.

Its true, nobody really cares. Its not like Giants fans are now calling for Coughlins retirement (any more so than before the comments were made). If anything they are going the other way and realizing how Tiki's numbers were much better under TC and that the validity of Tiki's previous criticism of TC is now questionable. Is it actually TC's fault or is Tiki just a little soft, whiny baby?

Re: Tiki at it again

To be fair Tiki also gave him credit for helping him become a better running back so its not like he just bashed the guy. He gave his view both bad and good.
