Unfortunately Joe will stay. I really thought he would go but when this team went on a run and made the playoffs I knew he would come back. IMO that was the only downside of this great playoff run.

I want the Skins to find a new young and energetic coach instead of going after a "name" like they always do.

Just wait and see what would happen if we lost him again, example, past 15 years, he is a leader and a head coach and the players love him and play for him, period, leave him in place in my opinion.

He has a valid point. Even if Coach stays longer, it can't be for more than 2 years I would imagine. We do need new blood, Coach isn't getting any younger, neither are his assistants.

There will be someone available when the time comes and Joe will pick him.

He needs to continue on the good things he started, he is also helping to rebuild the face of our franchise with qualities players and personal. IMO

By the way it should not be a question and the question in my opinion is an insult. I am and most everyone is proud of the direction he is leading this team and the organization.

So, just to be clear, you were hoping the team would crash and burn this year so that Gibbs would leave and then we'd go after some up and comer like Childress (not in the playoffs), Marinelli (not in the playoffs), Payton (not in the playoffs), or Mangini (not in the playoffs)

But really I just want to be sure I understand this, you-a Redskins fan-would have been happier had we not made the playoffs? You were rooting for us to lose so that Gibbs would be gone?

I think he's a Marty fan, wants a coach that chokes during playoff time.

I really did think this team was going to crash & burn after Gibbs gaffe vs Buffalo (I was wrong) but TC came in and suddenly injected life in an otherwise dead team and the rest is history. I knew after the ST murder that Gibbs would be back but since Gibbs is gone after next year anyway I thought it would be better to get the precess going now instead of later. No doubt making the playoff is better than not but IMO this team made the playoffs in spite of Gibbs not because of him.

You forgot to mention Tomlin who did make the playoffs. The coaches you name all coached bad teams. If the Skins are half as good as most on this board think a young coach would have no problem guiding this talent-filled organization to the playoffs. I have no doubt this organization will hire a "name" coach as this is what the orgfanization & fans demand.

I would venture to say you're in the vast minority when you say they made the playoffs in spite of Gibbs. (Although some will take your post and call it the norm on this site).

I'd also venture to say that no amount of discussion will convince you otherwise.

Re: Should Gibbs stay or go?

I'm pretty sure he's staying but what i was really trying to ask is if you guys wanted him to stay instead of looking for a new coach already? I see that there's still people who aren't satisfied with him so I guess I still kinda got my answer...

The majority of us want him to stay. You will find a minority who want him gone, because they feel a younger coach is the way to go. Of course, most of those are probably the younger fans who were not around during the first tenure of Gibbs, or either the old folkies who were around long before Gibbs showed up in Washington. Make no mistake, Joe Gibbs is and will always be a Washington Redskin.
