I hate reading about all this crap saying if they were Jason's agent, they'd request a trade.

No competition. JC is the starter, TC is the backup, end of story. You don't put the hopes of continuing success on the back of a 37 year old journeyman QB who couldn't move paper across a desk just because he caught fire for a few games.

But with the new situation, if Saunders goes, so does Collins.

I care about the success of the team. The better man should start. Truthfully if TC was the starter we would have won alot more games.

There's no competition, put JC in. damn. I trust this guy, and I thought most of us did.

If saunders remains the OC or even the HC-Collins will be the starter for next year and then Campbell becomes the starter. This will not hurt in his progress, but it should make him better. If Collins was the starter last season Campbell would not have even been on the field yet. Campbell needs a complete season of watching Collins work this offense from the sidelines since he did not have that opportunity with Brunell stinking up the place. Trust Saunders he will know what to do. Look at the situation brewing in Arizona with Leinart and Warner. Sometimes the young guy needs to sit back and learn like Romo did.

Collins had a great 4 game run, but let's not go overboard, Todd Collins is no Kurt Warner.. He was a backup for 10 years a reason.. His arm strength is marginal & his mobility is negligible.

You play your franchise QB and let him lead you to where you want to go. Next year is Campbell's 4th year in the NFL with 20 starts under his belt. He doesn't need to 'sit back and watch' anyone.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

I'm really worried about our starting QB now that Gibbs is gone. If our new HC is not part of the Redskins staff yet ( AL or GW) who knows what kinda crazy move he can do? I want JC to be the starter.

Todd Collin's performance at the end of the year was like a Cinderella story. Collins is a career backup and has never proven to be a starter. He comes in and does a great job for four games, basically what he is paid to do, and now he is supposed to be the starter. Not. Seattle exposed his obvious weak arm and lack of mobility. Cinderella's carriage turned into a pumpkin. It would be foolish to promote him to starter.

The O line didnt help TC at all. If JC was still playing we would have been 6-10.

With Gibbs leaving, if Saunders isn't retained, I would fully expect Collins to go where Al goes.

Campbell should probably be a little concerned right now. Yesterday's comments notwithstanding, Gibbs was JC's biggest advocate. Who's on his side now. I don't think he's going anywhere, but it's put up or shut up time now.

Re: Training Camp '08:Open Competition between Collins and Campbell?

If Campbell isn't the starter next year I'm gonna blow a damn gasket. Am I wrong in saying that the Skins have had more starting QB's in the last 10 yrs. than any other team? Hell with that dumbass Spurrier we had two starters. Kinda, sorta.

Collins played great, but for God sakes we have to stick with one guy and actually commit to him.

Re: Training Camp '08:Open Competition between Collins and Campbell?

I don't have any problem whatsoever with some honest competition, but no honest competition can exist between now and September.

How can it? There are no games.

If Campbell is to be considered the frontrunner, how can Collins over take the front runner without ever proving anything in a game situation? Some coach would have to make a mistake and overvalue practice and preseason play.

Truth is that we already know just as much about Campbell and about Collins as we will in week one of next season. Sure you can "have a competition." You just can't have a winner.
