green ran a 4.2 when he was 40 years old... that's nuts.

And won the NFL man fastest player competition 3 times, he was also clocked at 4.15 if I recall in his younger days.

#28's punt return against the Bears when he tore cartiledge in his chest.

Also if you didn't see #28 play, then you prob didn't see #81 (the original 81) play. Go to youtube, theres tons of clips there on him.

Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)

I bet that not a one of them are put into the HOF. Monk should have already been in years ago and Grimm should have made it in last year and Green this year. But just because they played for the Skins they want be put in. I guess you have to be a cowgirls player who had all kinds of off the field troubles to make it in. Art did things that no other receiver was willing to do (i.e.) block, catch passes across the middle knowing he was going to get hit and hard, and keep his nose clean on and off the field and he played during a time where there was no five yard rule, a defender could bump you all the way down the field and knock you around pretty much a he wanted to. I'm not saying that the cowpuke players didn't deserve to get in but so do these three Monk, Grimm and Greenjust as much. And even Michael Irvin agrees that Monk should have been in long before him.

plaxico burress talked about monk today at media day. they asked him when did he start playing football and what number he wore. he said he wore #81 and they asked why 81. he said because of art monk due to growing up in virginia. then he went on to say monk needs to be in the hall of fame and it is a shame that he is not in and should have been in years ago.

He seemed PISSED that Art wasn't already in, and he explained himself pretty well, IMO.
I was glad to see a current player speaking out on Monk's behalf but I fear it might have been missed by more people because of in all the media day garbage.

Plaxico has got my respect. I already have my sign made for the induction ceremonies, it says: THE INJUSTICE IS OVER, ART IS FINALLY IN!!!

Why isn't Bobby Beathard in the HOF? He's been responsible or involved for 7 SB, going back to when he started in KC, Miami, Washington, SD. Here's a guy that's way overdo.

Art Monk looooonnnggg over due. Would be great to see Green in the HoF this year as well. Heck, go ahead and throw Grimm into the mix as well. It's a shame that not more Redskins players from our glory years era isn't already in the HoF.

Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)

What a great way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of SBXVII (Jan 30, 1983) than Art Monk making the HOF. Monk deserves it and if not this year its a tough road ahead with Jerry Rice and Tim Brown becoming eligible next year. The longer he doesn't get in the more younger WRs will start becoming available and it will make the road tougher. With Doug Williams being honored at the Super Bowl, its a Redskins sweep on Saturday. All 3 get in!

I am hoping Grimm makes it. He is just overshadowed by Monk in people being upset.

Re: Hail To The Finalists (Skins to HOF)

No other reciever in the HOF has better numbers than Monk. It has been argued that he doesn't belong in the hall because he doesn't have the numbers to support putting him in. Lets compare his numbers to the last reciever put in the HOF Michael Irvin.

1.Receptions- Irvin 750/Monk 940 thats 190 more catches than Irvin

2. Rec yards- Irvin 11,904/Monk 12,721 thats 817 yards more than Irvin

3. TD's- Irvin 65/Monk 68 thats 3 more than Irvin

4. Super Bowl Rings Irvin 3/Monk 3 their even on that

5. Pro Bowls Irvin 5/Monk 3 so Michael has 2 more there, so what.

who ever said Monk didn't have the numbers to be in the HOF apparently can't count worth a darn or just don't know football. The numbers speak loud and clear and so do we Redskins fans Mr. Peter "I don't think Monk belongs in the HOF" King. Yes Peter King of SI has led the charge to keep Art Monk out of the hall of fame. Shame on him he knows nothing about Art Monk's playing career it seems.
