Spagnuolo or Fassel?

Nothing to argue with here. I think Fassel would definitely be the smart choice, or maybe I should say the safe choice. But Spagnoulo would bring the splash that Snyder is known for. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

Fassel may have had the super bowl appearence with NY whereas Coughlin did not get there in Jax but overall I thought Coughlin built a much better team in Jax then Fassel did in NY. Those Jags teams back then were tough. I thought Coughlin was a little better then to go in the retread category.

fassell. i like the experience he has as a head coach. doesnt spagnulo just have one year as a coordinator? good coordinator, not sure if hes ready to lead a team to the playoffs yet as a head coach. also not sure if zorn is ready to run the whole offense yet, want a head coach with an offensive specialty

He's a retread in that he was fired once before, something that some people have held against Fassel.

this is a sound theory. but i could just as easily see spagnuolo getting insterted into a position to use his obvious leadership skills to guide an experienced staff.

he would bring some fresh ideas to the table but they have the experience that he lacks.

either way, i'll remain optimistic.

I say start with a new fresh, hungry, HC to be and give him a chance to prove himself, instead of an old overhyped retread Fossil.

I would like a coach that will be here 10 years & be the face of the franchise,that's one of the reasons I like the idea of guys like Schwartz, Meeks & Spags. Whereas, a guy like Fassel or Mooch would be known as former coach of..& now w/Washington. that's not a big deal though, getting the best coach is.

does anybody think it's a little odd that Spags is all of a sudden a hot candidate, yet it took him so long to become a coordinator? Spags didn't get a coordinator position until he's 48! He was an intern here in 83. That's a long climb.

Fired as a head coach from the VaGiants and as a coordinator from the Ravens. Hiring him makes me nervous.

Cameron didn't get much of a chance IMO. That team needs more than a couple years to get going & he only got 1.

I think the situation actually fits Spagnuolo better. Forget the fact that we have already hired our OC and DC. There isn't very many, if any, veteran coaches who will come in and basically have little or no control. Of course besides Fassel or Mooch.

Spagnuolo will have everything put in place for him. I think it would be an easier transition for him by not having to worry about the coaching staff....and it appears that we have a really good coaching staff set in place for him. Not to mention that Gibbs has left the next coach with a good playoff team. It's not like Spags is having to come in and totally rebuild the team and the coaching staff from ground up. While it's possible that it might not fit with Spags and Blache running the D, I honestly don't believe that would be a big problem.

We'd be going from the most experienced coaching staff to one of the least....that would be nuts....but hell, based on the past, why not try anything.

We are not very forgiving to failure, especially in the sports arena, regardless of who's fault it was
