If there's an improvement out there, fine sign him up and cut Suisham.

But looking back we might we probably should have just held on to Brooks at punter. Plackemeier blows.

So with Suisham, I just don't see the point right now. Ride him out and reevaluate things in the offseason.

Amen.

Releasing Suisham does nothing. We have no idea of knowing how close he is to breaking through his mental block. No kicker is immune to these things. Today, the one he missed was from 48, so it's possible he might have missed it anyway even if he was "feelin it".

If you cut Suisham, and bring in the next guy, you haven't solved anything. FG kicking is unreliable by nature, and we should be going for it when at all possible.

Which is not to be saying that we should be turning a blind eye to a kicker upgrade, but if you cut Suisham before you know for sure that someone else who is more established is available, you're likely just going to downgrade at the position. See: Plackemeier, Ryan.

Re: the cut shaun suisham tomorrow thread

kicking is mental. brookes was fired due to inconsistency.

I think the problem is with the coach. there is no part of the Special Teams which is playing well. It's all below average or less. it's not just Suisham

Coach Danny Smith is a holdover from the Gibbs era. I believe he will be replaced with a coach that Zorn picks - then the entire Special Teams area will be rebuilt and re-organized.

This is a change for the offseason.

Plackemeier seems to have been punting from midfield quite a bit.. but he isn't pinning it as far back as I'd like to see... I'm not sure he's a big downgrade from Brooks though, you guys remembering something that I'm not?

Plackemeier is near the bottom in the league in punting, I think the graphic in the game said 31st, that's not due strictly to field position. I don't recall him ever getting off a nice boomer this year.

We swapped one bad punter for another, not sure what the point was now.

Its not shaun suisham, lets all admit it's Campbell!!! He is a Limp D__K.. And besides Jim zorn was a smart coach he wouldnt have let him kick from that far.. It all comes down to Campbell.. He Always Chokes during the big game! if i wanted someone who chokes during the big game i would want Freakn Tony Romo on my team! Its time to start the Colt Brennan "watch"!!

Exactly. At some point you've just got to play out the season and make some tough decisions in the off season. If anyone listened to some ppl in these threads we'd only have our backups to finish the season.

Best to see who finishes out strong and whether some players get their confidence back in the end.

Suisham does suck, being short on those 2 kicks against the Cowgirls and Giants (I think) was inexcusable. His miss tonight looked like it had the distance, just pushed it to the right. However, I don't think that at this point in the season there is anyone out there who will be much of an upgrade, if at all. So, in sum, Suisham sucks, but at this point you're not going to do much better.

Alas, logic!

We need a kicker. It's the only way we score.

It's too late for a change now but I would definitely look into an upgrade for next year.

This is true and if you think back Suisham was off to a great start this year when Brooks was holding for him. That may just be a cooncidence or replacing Brooks with another bad punter may have given us two bad kickers.
