Re: I am venting on randy thomas

It's not so much the line, as it is the attitude or lack thereof. And I think this is true of the entire team right now. No heart or attitude. It's really hard to pin point why, but it's almost as if they expect to be playing from behind. No swagger whatsoever. I'm not sure if that's a coaching issue or just a players no heart in it issue.

I know this is probably the wrong thread and not the best topic to bring up, but Sean Taylor would always bring that spark when the team needed it most. Whether it was a jarring hit, an interception, or a touchdown. Hell, even a personal foul penalty. How many personal foul or roughing the passer penalties do we even have this year? Not that that's the measure, but I think you guys get what I'm trying to say. It's just too few and far between.

Just to clear up my pesonal foul comment. I think there's a difference between guys making bone headed mistakes and going full-tilt or playing with some edge.

They are all old and need to be replaced.

I hope Rhinehart turns out to be a beast.

samtskins:

If he is a beast, then he should dominate the game against the Bengals - - whose DL is simply terrible. By the end of the game, the TV coverage should have him isolated on every other down so you can see him making a fool out of his opposition.

That is what a "beast" will do against the Bengals' D-Line.

I'm sad to say that I agree with you! I watched as he didn't make it out of his stance on at least 5 occasions on Sunday... The line is not physical enough to make an impact and they do not strike fear in anyone's heart. You must have a presence and an identity.. What is that for this unit? What is it for this team? What has it been since this team was sold by the Cook Family?

Re: I am venting on randy thomas

When a team starts to go downhill, it effects many of the players. No one wants to admit it but players will start to pull back some and save themselves for the next season, or the next team.

Many want to blow up the entire OL and DL, but we don't have the draft picks, or money to do that. Draft picks take a year or two to reach NFL level of play.

I think Randy Thomas may be serviceable for another year or so. We have bigger problems on the OL than him.

First Vinny / Zorn must decide if Buges still has the juice to coach at the NFL level. Then the OL coach, Zorn and Vinny will dissect the year's performance.

Rabach and Jansen are more on the bubble than Thomas.

Agreed. Thomas may be a weak link...... but the entire line is old. The skins need to draft O lineman and pick up some in free agency.

Re: I am venting on randy thomas

i think bugels fault is that of a great old man, loyalty. he doesnt want to let anyone down even if they are not producing. hes a great coach, i compare great coaches with great prize fighters......they always have that one last great show where they show everyone why they were so great at one time win or lose, they show you....i think buges will do that over the last 3 weeks and into the playoffs. i would argue that randy thomas is our biggest problem on this line, we have heyer, for jansen whenever that transition occurs. we have rinehart for kendell. rabach has done a decent job, samuels is still the best we have......but who takes over for randy thomas.....this guy will let you down, he is confused in his assignments and i think you will see that if go back and look. something about his expressions and post game interviews and everything tells me he doesnt care.....i just dont see his spirit and will coming through in his play. but hey he will keep picking up those pay checks...i wish we could all be so lucky.

Re: I am venting on randy thomas

With the line playing as shitty as it is, I don't think we could single out one player. If we could look, and say _____ is getting beat, and that's where all the pressure, and sacks are coming from, it would be different. Right now we are just flat out getting beat from all sides. When/if we get a solid line, then we'll see who is failing, and how much.

Re: I am venting on randy thomas

id replace both thomas and rabach next year if possible. heyer in for jansen, i think heyer has a good future as he continues to learn. kendall should be good for another year imo, and if not i think rinehardt should be given a shot. samuels is good if healthy.

--samuels--kendall--C---RG----heyer--

with a first rounder, maybe take michael johnson from georgia tech (defensive end) and try to pick some guys up in the 3rd and 4th rounds for the o-line to develop. id look into free agency as well

Re: I am venting on randy thomas

So Clinton being in the top 5 in rushing in the entire NFL is a fluke? Im not saying our line is all that BUT they must be doing something right. I dont think we need to run out and replace them all now! Do you see how much lineman are getting these days?! We have pretty cheap labor if you ask me. And I believe Thomas has given up the fewest sacks and is the least penalized on the line. There is PLENTY of enough blame to go around if you ask me and alot of it is stemming from the playcalling and coaching.

Re: I am venting on randy thomas

Like I said in a previous thread, releasing Randy Thomas will be feasible around the next time Obama has to run for reelection.
