I would love to have him here. With the attention he commands we might actually be able to rush the passer, which would be neat.

I have to believe Tennessee will get him resigned to a deal before he hits the market. He is too central to that team.

Haynesworth doesn't just get a push but he's also capable of getting his own sacks. Also if it's financially feasable I would love to see him paired with Julius Peppers on the Left side. At that point with our secondary and our D-Line we would be unstoppable. Only thing left would be to sign a guy like Jordan Gross or bring in a Tackle with our first round pick preferably Michael Oher. Of course where we're going to get all the money to do this well only God knows where, but hey $24 million can go pretty far these days. Thats assuming of course that we're already under the cap when we let a bunch of people go.
A talented free agent in an area that we are in desperate need. It is either this or the offensive line, but we need help. I'm with you Dirtbag, I think the Defensive Ends have gotten all the attention, but our D-Tackles are not pushing up the middle. We can only get so much from the draft, but I believe we also need a good free agent for either line.

I don't like him. I think he's a dirty player to intentionally stomp on another person's head. Character is paramount, IMO.

I love what he's done for the Titans this year. I don't like the fact that he waited until his contract was about up to become a dominant force, how old he is, how much money he'll demand and how he has very, very questionable character. The neys have it.

Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!

If Albert Haynesworth came here and played to his capability, he would be the best DT in the history of the Washington Redskins by a wide margin.

He will be expensive to sign. The Oakland Raiders sort of set the market last year paying Tommie Kelly (their DT) about $13M a year for 4 years. Albert Haynesworth is significantly better than Kelly; the bidding for him will begin north of those numbers.

I'm not sure this is a great draft for DTs - - although I do like Jeff Owens from Georgia.

Here is what I would worry about with Haynesworth - - and it has NOTHING at all to do with his physical skills:
Some folks have thought that he does not play hard all the time and that he "takes time off" during games. That hasn't happened this year - - his "walk year". But what might happen next year with a fat signing bonus (north of $12M?) in his pocket and a roster bonus on hand for next year?

You just never know...

Haynesworth is 27 yrs. old. He's been very productive during the past couple of years. He is in a very good defense, but he is talented. I've only heard of his one incident when he stomped on the Cowpoke, but that's about it. I mean the only big time free agent we got this past season, came from a team that went 1-15 last season and was getting a bit old (Jason Taylor). Haynesworth is a dominant DT in a good team with a dominant defense. I mean if he were to come here and be a bust then well that's just bad luck or our coaching sucks. But this would be a good football move to get a strong DT that can create a good pass rush and disrupt the opponents running play.

We might as well bring Sean Gilbert out of retirement.

Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!

I would not sign Haynesworth right off the bat. If the economy is affecting lesser-market teams in order to drive down his price to ARE/Carter levels, I think he could be our solution at 3-shade tackle.

There's also the knee risk now that could make him not worth what we pay him. He's been a great player, you just have to let the market develop for him first.

Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!

No thanks. This guy has been in the league for a while now, he'll demand a huge contract, and he alone won't change anything. I'm ready to start shipping some of the older veterans out and working more towards youth. There's a thin line between a veteran savvy team and an old one.

Anyone who doesn't want this guy is nuts. Immediate impact on the line. He is the best defensive lineman in football right now. I'd pay an arm and a leg to get this guy in a skin's uniform. Even if we kept the same pass rush as this year, with hanesworth anchoring the middle the sack total would got up exponentially

See, I tend to think that if we have to choose between a DE or DT, defensive tackle appears to be in better shape -- Golston, Montgomery, and Griffin while not world beaters are decent and can get the job basically done. Then you have Demetric Evans who can play in the middle along with Lorenzo Alexander who can also play.

Our defensive ends, on the other hand are absolutely pathetic and cannot do what they're supposed to do. So if you have to go with one or the other, to me it has to be defensive end.

I would agree that we have a brighter future at DT, we're lacking youth-wise at DE.

He only shows up on these contract years. Also he has blown a knee and has many many more on the field and off the field incidents since college that we are not discussing.
