Shane Lechler is a Pro-Bowl punter and will command some big bucks. We'll not be the only team looking to sign him, not to mention Oakland will want to retain him. He will be cheaper than other free agents like Haynesworth and Peppers. He'd be my priority FA pick up this season along with an OT. Unlike Haynesworth or Peppers I'm willing to go out on a limb and say he'd be worth the money. Our staff like to take their time developing linemen and anyone we'd draft wouldn't be thrown in there until Jansen's and Heyer's backs break in week 12. If we did sign Lechler he'd be able to start right away. Personally I miss Derrek Frost, just because he liked to hit people and did. |

Re: Plackemeier waived
Here is the dilemma. Placky did an OK job putting the ball within the ten yard line. His placement was rather good. But, when the Skins had to kick deep, he simply has no distance.
I am starting to think the punting situation will never be resolved in DC, lol. And this I will give the FO credit for, they have tried. They took the numebr one punter in the nation, Ray Guy Award winner, and still nothing.

I think Hunter Smith may be another option at P for us

Re: Plackemeier waived
I'm all for spending some $$ on special teams. Let's get a quality punter and kicker in here and be done with it.

Re: Plackemeier waived
Suisham had a down year but the year before he was pretty good. I think he can rebound. Plack was just bad, period.

Re: Plackemeier waived
Looks like the UFAs are as follows:
Shane Lechler, Craig Hentrich, Hunter Smith, Sam Koch, Chris Hanson, Michael Koenen, Mike Dragosavich I'd love to see Lechler in DC booming kicks...but I guess we shall see.

Koenen will probably be franchised, and I think Koch is an RFA

Re: Plackemeier waived
Are we now in the business of taking all the Oakland Raiders left overs.

Re: Plackemeier waived
I agree that these are good players to have. I guess that I was just making a point that every year it seems like we target a particular teams roster and raid it. And I guess this years target is the Oakland Raiders.

Re: Plackemeier waived
Who knows if Lechler is even on our radar. Even if he was 2 players is hardly a raid.

Re: Plackemeier waived
They must have someone on their radar besides Adle-bury. I mean come on? This guy isn't that much better than the one we waived. If they don't have any good FA punters that their looking at it would surprise me. It's an area of need that they'll not have to spend really big $ on.
