I would still like to see someone aggressive from that side of the line by way of the draft. WE have to take advantage of having Haynesworth in the middle.

A latest mock has us taking Tyson Jackson for LDE: National Football League: NFL Draft 2009 - Tyson Jackson

My word this kid is big...not a pass-rush specialist though by a long-shot. He's like Daniels "Reloaded" lol...

He's a stud but I've read he projects more as a 3-4 DE.

At 296lbs yeah he's def 3-4 DE material. However, many around here got hot and bothered at the idea of Canty coming in to play LDE...he's right under 300 as well but Canty doesn't rush the passer like Jackson has (in college at least). I will say it'd be nice to have a young stud who acts as a wall on the left said and get collapse the pocket on pass plays...evidently Jackson excels at just mashing his opponent backward and flushing the QB out of the pocket. I guess if A. Smith, Raji, Oher and Rey were all taken and our trade-down scenarios don't really materialize Jackson is a good pick at 13. Probably a very safe pick too....

...btw a lot of mocks have Oher falling well past 13 now (with us passing on him obviously), i just find this interesting. The "experts" and analysts have evidently found their ? guy of the draft cuz I don't think there's any debate Oher has the talent, i guess it's personal stuff and work ethic at issue here. I'm still game for drafting Oher though...his story is remarkable and you'd really hope w/ Samuels, Jansen mentoring him (and hopefully Buges investing time and effort on him too) Oher would flourish in the capital.

Re: Redskins sign Robert Thomas

Jarron Gilbert out of San Jose St looks like the same type of DE/DT
probably can get him in the 3rd-5th...Seems like T.Jackson in the 1st round would be way to high

I've read that Oher has issues "learning." As in, he's not the sharpest tool in the box. This is a concern I suppose, but like you mentioned we have good veteran guys on the OL. If the big 4 tackles are gone, I wouldn't object to Tyson Jackson, but I'd prefer OLB in that case.

Who knows, maybe this guy can play. He was a first round draft choice. Does anyone know if he had a major injury or is he just a bust. Remember, the Raiders can srew anything up. He is a bit old to expect to much from him.

I saw a mock draft today that had us taking Robert Ayers at 13. I think it was Kiper's latest Mock, but I forget. I stopped paying for Insider, so I have no link.

I do know that Mike Mayock from NFLN has Ayers at the #5 overall prospect in the entire draft.

Yeah, alot of people have Ayers ahead of all of the DE's. I think it doent matter, because I think we are going after Sanchez. I just have a gut feeling.

You said you'd like to see us give up this and next year's 1st rounders, and this year's 3rd plus Campbell, for Jay Cutler. I'll give you credit considering the Bears did the exact equivalent to land Cutler.

But there's no way in hell we take a QB at 13. If we did, we'd have to trade Campbell, which we already tried, and didn't have much luck. So say we take Sanchez at 13, a few major things happen:

1) We have a really awkward situation with Campbell. He'll be the starter in 2009, a contract year for him, despite having Sanchez as the clear QB of the future drooling on the sideline. If Campbell isn't the starter and gets sat in place of a rookie, things could get ugly.

2) Collins gets cut and vanishes. So we absorb his hit AND sign Sanchez to a deal worthy of a top 15 pick.

3) We're still left with glaring needs on the O-line and LB.

4) Locker room chemistry takes a big hit.
