Re: Jarmon signed

Just saw his video with Al Michaels on Redskins.com. He really seems like a good guy, the kind of guy you want in the locker room. Great pickup!

I hope he's a quick study and can beef up in the weight room ASAP. We may need him if someone goes down..

Of course, I was also excited about Erasmus last year who failed me.. But in contrast Jarmon is a promising rookie who has great potential (vs. Erasmus who was an injured bust who we tried out)..

Re: Jarmon signed

Being that we're in a recession this is going to be a slow process. Like Matty said, if the guys around him don't start signing then most likely he won't be here the 1st day of camp. I think that's what happened in '07 with LL so it just depends on negotiations and the slotting of the players.

Re: Jarmon signed

There are still 20 2nd round picks unsigned, that's also kinda crazy

Re: Jarmon signed

Man, people griped about AH's deal. What if we give Orakpo Sanchez like money! that would screw up the whole curve, who knows we could start a whole hold out issue for the teams around us! LOL

LOL

It is the exact same money as the 83rd pick of this year.
83 New England Brandon Tate - WR 4 year $2.505 contract, $755,000 signing bonus
SUP Washington Jeremy Jarmon - DE 4 year $2.505 million contract, $755,000 signing bonus

I guess it's because this guy is the middle pick in the draft. It's cool though, probably saved some money because I bet the numbers go up next year, because they always go up and also the no cap thing would raise prices.

I like it. Hell I'd like any nickname that cross references any rap group from the 80's.

It's kind of crazy how few 1st rounders are signed right now. Sanchez, Stafford, Oher, Mack, Eric Wood, and Ziggy Hood. That's it. 6 out of 32 and it's almost August.

A link in case anyone is interested:

Well I found this article stating that Aaron Maybin may be a hold out for Buffalo, which may be bad for us since his signing and Tyson Jackson's would influence what type of deal Orakpo gets. Jackson has not been signed either...so any word what's going on with Orakpo?

No idea, although Zorn said he doesn't expect Orakpo to report on time. We have a unique position with our 1st round pick since we're asking him to change positions to a degree, so every second of camp is that much more valuable.

I understand agents want to wait and see what kind of money players picked near their clients sign for, however someone has to be the first to sign. We need Rak in camp ASAP.

You think it's because the NFL is headed into the final year of the labor agreement?

Maybe agents are trying to secure more money this year in case of a lock out after this year.

...Pure speculation on my part of course.

I mean this would be a good story for the sports media to address, but of course they are too busy not letting go of the Brett Favre's non-story

GMScud, thanks for the heads up on Zorn's comments. I agree with you, Orakpo needs to be in camp, I hope we get him signed pretty soon.

Absolutely. I think the prospect of 2010 being uncapped is playing a big role.
