Re: Game Plan the 3rd Preseason Game

1. I'd give the starters the full first half

2. Colt

3. Chase

We already know what TC brings. He's either good enough to continue as the #2 or he really has no place on this team. So I'm not worried about playing him.

I don't really see the need of giving Chase more time against better competition. I don't think right now the question with Chase is can he be the #2 QB. I think, at best, he's the #3 this year. And that's not a bad thing, the #3 guy is usually a guy you think can actually be a starter in 2-3 years. But let's not rush him into even being the #2 quite yet

Colt, on the other hand, is a guy who was expected to challenge for the #2 spot. So let's see if he can.

Good point SS. If he can beat out TC, doubtful but possible, I believe they really want him to, I doubt they would keep TC at #3 and Chase could make the team if Zorn likes what he sees in him. Futurewise, this is probably the best case scenario. I don't think anyone in the organization is ready to write Colt off just yet and Daniel needs to prove he can do it again.

I agree, CB had a nice drive until the pick. but it was 3rd down and he just watched Chase score 2 tds. after seeing that do you think he wanted to settle for 3 even though thats what he should have done and thrown it away? the play wasnt there and he tried to force it. It would be like if this week TC comes out with the starters first and leads the team to 2 scores and has a nice half. you think JC wouldnt come in with more of a sense of urgency? he would do anything he could to get a score---not saying scenerio that will happen ---
These guys know it is a competition where the loser goes home, they will find themselves in a position where they know they may have to take a chance to outdo the other.

Do you really think playing Chase or Colt in this game is going to do us any good? I'm getting the two guys that are going to play this year all of the work.

I don't know that TC really needs any more work though. Plus let's see some more of what Colt and Chase can do, because if Campbell isn't here next year it won't be because of Collins. But it might be because of Chase or Colt

Re: Game Plan the 3rd Preseason Game

Let them play until they can atleast score a TD and like someone else said have JC drop back to pass 90% of the plays and tell him not to worried about int's but getting the ball out to some who is past the line of scrimage.

I'd like to see Chase get some more time.

2nd off the bench is Colt because I feel he is now in a fight to stay on the team.

You have to split the time between the kickers.

Re: Game Plan the 3rd Preseason Game

One thing I thought was pretty interesting was Zorn's reaction. Zorn is pretty candid about what he thinks, so you have to assume there are no motivational tools in play necessarily when he speaks of his players.

Zorn was pretty quick last summer to temper all the excitement about Colt, talking about his mechanics were ugly and he has to show better discipline. He seemed to have nothing but praise for Chase on Saturday, touting his poise, and mechanics

This is true, but Zorn knew the hype that Colt would bring.. he also knew that Colt would make the team; so that public criticism would help Colt work harder.

If Zorn goes into the media saying yeah Chase needs to work on this and this and he really didn't do this, blah blah; you've got a guy right now at the #4 spot who might get discouraged when he has a chance for #3 if he keeps it up.

I'd also like to see a lot more of Jarmon, Wilson and Jackson. Sorry guys, I know I'm probably in the minority but I just don't think Wynn, Daniels and even Carter are any good. I want to see some of the younger guys get a look.

Really? I mean I think Wynn won't make this team, but Daniels brings a lot to the table as a run-stopping DE, though it wouldn't surprise me if the season ends with Jarmon starting over him, and I think Carter can have career highs in sacks (so I guess that's like 15?) with AH and Griffin in the middle. I think either Wilson or Jackson gets a roster spot, not sure both will.

Carter was not double teamed at all last year and he still couldn't get to the QB. He doesn't have explosion or power coming off the edge. He only has one move and that's try and run around the tackle. Orakpo is about the same size as Carter and you can already see he is strong enough to bull rush a 300lb tackle and fast enough to run around him. Wynn and Daniels are just too slow and not athletic enough. I watched Daniels and he looks so slow out there. What the younger guys lose in experience and assignment responsibility they'll make up in some playmaking. I just think it's time to move on. It's a young man's game.

It's not factual to say Carter wasn't doubled teamed. Only Monty drew double teams on our interior line, so when he wasn't in, Carter was getting a left tackle and a running back when applicable.

Jason Taylor was the one who was rarely double teamed, and even so, most of our one on ones came in blitz situations, which sort of defeats the purpose of the one on one pass rushing match-up.

I'd call Carter a "power" player because a majority of his moves are power moves, but the only really effective pass rushing move seems to be that speed rush. I'm not the biggest fan of speed rushers, but I think he does it pretty well.

1. First half or three successful drives.

2. Chase, I want to get a better look.

3. Brennan, if he struggles he may be the one headed to the practice squad.

4. Alternate kick-offs and FG/XPs

Re: Game Plan the 3rd Preseason Game

Well, if I understood right Zorn said today that Collins will be the #2. That he expected Colt to battle for that spot but Collins isn't giving it up.

So it really does look like Colt is battling to stay on the team. Crazy. Would've never imagined this so soon. We should trade Colt (quick, someone work out a trade plan) for a RT.

But anyway, I have this feeling that Zorn is kind of pissed at Colt. And maybe at himself in a way. Colt was supposed to be his guy, his pet project that he drafted and was going to develop.
