You obviously don't know football. Lets add some things up. So maybe YOU can understand...

1. What happened last year when CP and Betts got hurt? Where was Rock?

Oh we went and got a Shaun Alexander aka tip toe burgular..

2. He has returned one kick for TD..I think it was in 2006. Our special teams sucks. So to say he is the best tackler on special teams and thats the reason you want to keep him is frankly assinine.

3. Rock is 29 years old about to be 30 and so is Betts.

We have two RBs that have different type of styles to offer that would be more productive than Rock.

- So by your football knowledge. We have no one else that can return kicks.

- We have no one that can tackle besides him on special teams and he makes every tackle on special teams? lol Dude please.

- We should learn from our mistakes in 08. By not keeping a RB that can contribute if Betts and CP get nicked.

We have Moss, Betts, Thomas and other that can return kicks plus have more than one duty on the team.

If Danny Smith is such a good ST coach (not). He should prepare all of his players to be good tacklers on ST.

But you right. I know nothing about football.

Yeah, I don't really get why so many people don't think Mason is worth a roster spot. A lot of people use the "he's playing against 2nd and 3rd string guys" argument, and yet a lot of those same people are in love with Marko Mitchell.

Because what the heck does Mason give you that you don't already have in Portis, Betts, Sellers, and Rock?

There's no exceptional speed, no special teams skills, no significant run or pass blocking ability...

He's merely a decent runner. But we have that in Portis and Betts.

I generally agree with your comments, but I'd rather have a decent runner with fresh legs when Betts inevitably goes down with an injury and Portis is wearing down towards the end of the season, rather than a guy who's ready to be put out to pasture like Shawn Alexander.

And I personally haven't seen enough from Alridge to think he's a better option than Mason.

I agree completely...the only job that Mason should even be in the running for is Betts and that doesn't even seem like a possibility. He can't take Rocks job because he can't play ST and he doesn't fit as a change of pace back as well as Alridge or Dorsey would.

A couple things of note from the article:
* He said "there's a good chance" of the team keeping a fifth running back. His radio voice made it seem like a very good chance.

"I would say that's probably, there's a good chance of that," he said. "Because what you want to do Kevin, it'll probably be 25 on offense, 25 on defense and three specialists. So it's just how you want to divide your numbers.

I think that indicates that Mason and/or Aldridge will make the team. Lots of buzz out of Redskins Park that he's very high on Aldridge.

* He was fairly definitive when asked if he thought the team would add an offensive lineman after other teams make cuts.

"No, no," was his exact response. "And I think this, I think with the Montgomerys and Rineharts and Mike Williams and Bridges and stuff, I think you've got experienced guys there that'll, I think, be productive."

Congratulations, Mike Williams. Welcome back to the NFL.

Pretty clear he was making the team anyways but this basically makes it official.

Actually this was the best quote, from Cerrato, when asked what Denver is asking for Brandon Marshall.

"I don't have the faintest idea," Cerrato said. "We like our locker room."

Maybe he's not a freaking idiot after all!

"I don't have the faintest idea,"

Good...I think we've all seen enough potential out of our WR corps this off-season to give it a season to see how good it can become. It isn't the wasteland we thought it might be.

Weird. 5 backs is a lot...almost like Vinny expects injuries among that group. It also says Rock is likely a sure thing, which should help out special teams but doesn't do much of anything on offense.

He has not done much since his 1st yr in the league on offense so why in the world would you think it would change after 7 yrs? I know Rock has that cute little title...RB, but he is not untilized as a RB. He is used one dimensionally as a KRer for like the last 6 yrs. Even when his moment to shine appeared the team had so much faith in him they picked up the TTB.

I wonder what people would be saying if Thomas got the nod for KR and was not ever again used as a WR. Never put on the field on offense as a WR. Only used as a KR. When someone is put in that situation isn't their job title supposed to be ....KR specialist. Not RB.

For one of the few times I agree with Vinny. I want Alridge on this team badly. He is the type of change of pace back they need. Betts is just a less talented version of Portis in my mind. Alridge can really bring something we don't have I think.

I agree. If it's speed they want, Alridge is the man. I really think he could be a great addition to this offense. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

Health is the biggest question.

Hey, I just realized your username-instead of repping your fandom of MW-can rep your fandom of the 53 man roster

I have a feeling I'm going to be a big fan of our final 53. Maybe a couple of exceptions but as they say, winning cures everything.

Let's not get crazy now...

I'd personally would like Zorn having final say over cuts but from the sound of it Cerrato seems to be involved more than I thought he'd be.

Cerrato may make it sound like he wouldn't want Marshall but the Skins can't make a play for him based on their salary cap and not their desires for a big time wideout. I highly doubt this front office would shrug off the big name talent like that on the basis of their discipline.
