Id take him, then we can have time to work on the oline in the draft instead of going after a RB in this draft to replace CP.

Oh no!!! Didn't we learn anything from the Shaun Alexander and TJ Duckett fiasco. Retread backs are just that...retreads. The rubber will finally come off!

I'd rather start Betts and Cartwright.

Honestly, what in the hell do they think we will get out of a 30 yo back? 30 yo running. I think that Betts and Cartwright did outstanding yesterday considering our line issues

Betts without the fumbles is just as good or better than Portis at this point. Rock isn't a slouch either. Larry Johnson is indeed washed up and wouldn't do any better than Portis behind this line either.

Betts does great when he is when CP is out, plus he sighned a big contract to stay here.

We dont need LJ, we need to clean house.

I'd rather bring back Alridge if we need a short term back for the roster.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

I agree. Alridge, Mason, Dorsey, or even Ganther are familiar with the system and the terminology. LJ is no longer a 1,700 yard back. I don't understand the attraction of LJ when we have other acceptable options.

Me too, but I'm sure it has something to do with blocking knowledge or something. Instead though they would rather bring someone on board who has no knowledge of the Skins play calls and blocking scheme and let him sit a few games to learn like Levi Jones.

Re: Jim Zorn says redskins could pursue L. Johnson

Meh i still think Betts and Rock running yesterday proved that we can run with a good rb, it's not all the lines fault. The play that Portis got hurt was the perfect example of why he is just as much to blame for the Skins not being effective in the run game. He's got a big hole, holding the ball with both hands and has no burst or balance. He's out and suddenly we can get 4 yards on first down which completely opened up the offense.

On that note, Larry's got a lot of baggage and adequate rb's are a dime a dozen. Bring back the young rb's we dropped.

On a team with a good OL I think LJ could still be effective, but his off the field baggage right now makes him untouchable.

And to claim him off waivers when it's very unlikely anyone else is going to touch him at that $2M tag is absurd.

I totally agree. If we do sign LJ, at least wait to make a better deal. I am reminded of Erasmus James, on whom we spent a 7th pick when the Vikes were going to cut him anyway.
