Re: Gruden to Return to ESPN
I am not hyping him, don't really want him here. But Dallas has links, I forget who/how, and Shanahan is a name that both JJ and DS would like to have. Smoot's point of San Diego also makes a lot of sense. He's been at the Raiders and Denver, and probably would be happy to stay in that division.

Re: Gruden to Return to ESPN
My gut feeling still has Billick here, with guys like Mooch or Martz not too far behind as choices.

Please, please, Dallas or San Diego, take Shanny so that we can't.

When Cerrato anounced Zorn would be the coach for the remainder of the season, he also used the word "beyond" which could imply thinking beyond 2010. As for Gruden, I've never thought he was the man for either the team or the town. Happy he's extended with ESPN. |

I think we need a housecleaning that includes Cerrato and Zorn. Shame that Gruden apparently is out of the running, I would have loved to see him here. He IS a great announcer though, he's becoming one of my favorites and helps cancel out Jaws.

I still say there's no way that Zorn stays. Lewis isn't going to want to return next year and Snyder won't sit idly by and ignore how bad it's been since last October. The only thing that saves Zorn is about 9 more straight wins.

Like I said I thought Shanahan would be our next coach, I wasn't really a fan of gruden coming here.

Re: Gruden to Return to ESPN
I think all that the Sherm Lewis situation has done is to prove that Zorn is not a good playcaller while that is where Gruden is far better. I believe Gruden would be a good fit here.I mean hell he won with Al Davis so why not?

Re: Gruden to Return to ESPN
i'm sure his ESPN contract contains a get-out clause if he gets another HC job... also, pretty positive that zorn is gone... even if the FO had faith in him, which they don't, it would need to be done from a standpoint of getting the bad taste of this season out of the mouths of the fan base...
i also believe that anyone -- even cowher and holmgren -- are possible HC candidates... money talks... |

also, i think snyder is desperate enough that he might hand over the keys to someone... so, i wouldn't rule out full control guys, either... |

Re: Gruden to Return to ESPN
Zorn may well be here cause who wants to work for Snyder? Jim Fassell maybe but I don't think any of the high profile coordinators or ex coaches would ever come here.
